United States forces withdrew from Qasrak base in the governorate of al-Hasakah in Syria’s northeastern region on April 16.

In a statement published by the state-run SANA, the Syrian Defense Ministry said that its forces assumed control of the base — located between the towns of Tell Tamr and Tell Baidar in the northwestern countryside of al-Hasakah. It was later reported that the military’s 60th Division moved into the base.

Before departing, U.S. forces set fire to vehicles and equipment that they were not able to take with them instead of leaving them for the Syrian military.

The U.S. military reinforced Qasrak amid the war on Iran. Still, the base was targeted more than once. The attacks reportedly originated from Iraq.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry welcomed what it described as “the ongoing and final handover process of the military sites that were held by the U.S. forces.”

“The Syrian government considers that the United States’ decision to end its military mission in Syria reflects a shared assessment that the circumstances which originally necessitated the American military presence in Syria — namely, confronting the regional escalation of the ISIS organization — have fundamentally changed,” the ministry said in a statement. “The Syrian state is now in a position to lead the efforts to combat terrorism from within, in cooperation with the international community.”

Reports by The Wall Street Journal and other outlets from February revealed that the U.S. is working to withdraw its remaining troops from Syria — numbered around 1,000 — within two months.

While the Syrian Foreign Ministry statement indirectly implied that Qasrak was very much the last U.S. base in Syria, that’s not true.

U.S. forces continue to maintain a presence in al-Hasakah through security offices, as well as at the Istirahat al-Wazir base.

The decision to burn vehicles and equipment at the base also shows that not much coordination is taking place with the Syrian government, despite the latter’s attempt to portray this.

The withdrawal from Qasrak, which is hard to defend, may be a sign that the U.S. is preparing to resume military operations in Iran. The ceasefire with the Islamic Republic is set to end in under a week, and thousands of additional American troops are already on their way to the Middle East.

us imperialist forces pull out, local fascist forces (us vassals) move in.

nothing to see here, move along.

Itsthejews

the vassals can still be ousted with the right planning. the usa units are more difficult to dislodge once they are in. as they can constantly count on full air support from nearby jordan and iraq bases. its important that american bases are removed from as many arab states as possible. if both syria and iraq can free themselves from american colonial bases its a massive win. making it much easier for them to defend themselves against the jews.
