On March 31st, US helicopters allegedly transported 40 ISIS terrorists from al-Houl prison, east of Hasaka city, to its base in al-Shadadi city in the southern part of the Hasaka countryside, Syrian state outlet SANA reported.

“Three military helicopters of the US occupation forces, accompanied by three attack helicopters, landed on the evening of March 30 in al-Shadadi base and they were carrying about 40 Daesh [ISIS] terrorists who were transferred from al-Houl prison, which is run by QSD militia in cooperation with the occupation forces,” local sources were cited.

Additionally, two Iraqi terrorists were among those who were transported:

  1. Ziyad Idris known as “Abu Saif al-Iraqi”, born in 1980, and he was responsible for the so-called “Hisbah” in Mosul, and after that he worked in Deir Ezzor;
  2. Najdat Masoud Rida, born in 1979, Known as Abu Bakr al-Furati, and he was responsible for storming operations in Deir Ezzor.

On March 30th, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the arrest of 53 people as part of an unprecedented security campaign that began on March 28th against ISIS operatives and their collaborators inside Al-Hol camp.

5,000 members of the SDF, the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Kurdish security forces (Asayish) are participating in the campaign inside the crowded camp with about 62,000 people, the majority of whom are women and children.

The Kurdish security forces announced in a statement “the arrest of 53 ISIS members, including five officials of the cells that were carrying out terrorist and violence operations within the camp” since the start of the operation on Sunday.

An AFP correspondent saw members of the anti-terrorist forces in the Syrian Democratic Forces, armed with their weapons, who were deployed at the outskirts of the camp during the implementation of the storming operations. He said that IDPs stood in front of their tents, watching the movement of the deployed military forces.

The media official in the YPG, Siamand Ali, told France Press that among the seizures were also “knives, bags, military clothes and iPads”, some of which were “found in small trenches.”

The United Nations has repeatedly warned of the deteriorating security situation in the camp.

The UN Security Council Committee working on ISIS and other militant groups reported in a February report about “cases of spreading extremism, training, fundraising and incitement to carry out external operations” in the camp, which it considers “some of the detainees … the last remnants of the caliphate.”

The situation in the camp is quite chaotic.

At the beginning March, a SDF official counted 31 people killed since the beginning of the year with sharp tools or pistols. Later, the SDF announced in a tweet that 15 people were killed in the camp during March alone.
