U.S. forces are looting oil fields and farmlands in the northeastern region of Syria, head of the Russian General Staff’s Main Operational Department Col. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi said at a Defense Ministry briefing on July 29.
The Russian commander added that the number of U.S. private military contractors deployed in northeastern Syria’s oil fields has surpassed 3,500.
“Syrian oil is extracted and sold from the fields of Conico, al-Omar and al-Tanak located on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. There is a criminal scheme to transport Syrian oil across the border,” Col. Gen. Rudskoi said.
Northeastern Syria is currently controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the U.S. main proxy in the war-tron country. The group’s Kurdish-dominated self-administration has full control of all natural resources in the region.

Last month, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, revealed that the U.S. has been increasing the number of private military contractors deployed in northeastern Syria.
Several reports had accused the self-administration in northeastern Syria of engaging in illegal oil trade. However, it remains unclear if U.S. private military companies are taking a part in these activists in a way or another.

It does look like a deal was struck between US, Turkey and Russia where portions of Syria will be annexed to Turkey and US move there bases from Iraq and maybe Turkey to Syria.

I remember in 2017 when the battle for deir.ez.zor.city was raging. SAA was attempting many river crossings, only to have the fuckhead kurds flood the river using the tabqa damn.
With this treachery, the kurds have shown themselves to be non agreement capable, just like their al nusrah counterparts.
Im willing to debate that the SAA/Russia never got close to the oild fields as their beach heads were constantly flooded by the fuck head kurds.
Because of this vulnerability, and also lack of proper air cover, it was not possible to liberate the oil fields at the time.
I think this was the right decision at the time, as al nusrah was still firmly entrenched in the damascus suburbs at the time. That cancer needed to be dealt with, the oil is not as important as damascus and its civilians.
I dont think its that a deal was “struck”, more that saa recognized that its not time to be too spread out fighting across the river, on a thin bridgehead mind you, leaving damascus exposed was a bad idea.

When the SAA started heading to relieve Deir ez Zoir the Kurds/SDF immediately changed direction and took control of a narrow strip along the Euphrates river from south of Raqqah way past Deir ez Zoir which was an obvious attempt to block the SAA from getting control of the oil fields on the other side. The richest fields are south west of Deir ez Zoir . There was no military reason to do this other than too block the SAA. Each day a new map came out showing advances by the SAA and the SDF it was blatantly obvious their intent.
