U.S.-Led Coalition Created 23 Dangerous Situations Over Syria In Single Day

United States-led coalition fighter jets and drones created 23 dangerous situations in Syrian skies in a single day, Rear Admiral Vadim Kulit, deputy head of the Russian center for the reconciliation in Syria, said during a briefing on September 9.

“The aviation of the so-called international anti-terrorist coalition led by the U.S. continues to create dangerous situations in the skies of Syria. It carries out flights in violation of deconfliction protocols and Syrian airspace,” the commander stated. “During the past day, the coalition committed 11 violations of the deconfliction protocols of December 9, 2019, such as drone flights uncoordinated with the Russian side. In the area of al-Tanf, 12 violations were recorded during one day.”

Kulit added that two pairs of F-35 fighter jets, one pair of F-16 fighter jets, two pairs of Typhoon fighter jets and two MQ-1C combat drones of the coalition violated Syrian airspace over al-Tanf.

The coalition maintains a garrison with a 55-kilometer no-fly zone in the area without an authorization from the Syrian government.

“With such actions, the coalition continues to create dangerous preconditions for air incidents and accidents, and aggravates the situation in Syrian airspace,” Kulit said.

U.S.-led coalition repeated attempts to expand its aerial operations over Syria without the approval of the Syrian government or any coordination with the Russian military group in the country led to several dangerous situations in recent months.

Just a few days ago, a MQ-9 combat drone of the coalition buzzed dangerously close to an An-30 plane of the Russian Aerospace Forces over Syria’s northern border.

Russia warned the coalition’s provocative behavior could eventually lead to a dangerous incident. The risk is especially high over al-Tanf as civilian flights pass over the area on a regular basis.

give syrian air defense at least 8 battalions of s-300pmu (64 launchers) this will give them 150km range, anti-ballistic missile capability, and ability to cover their entire airspace. russia has over 2000 s-300 variants in storage/reserve. while they can be securing syria’s skies.
