The U.S.-led coalition and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) carried out a new “anti-terrorism” operation in eastern Deir Ezzor on November 30.

Deir Ezzor 24, a pro-opposition blog, reported that coalition forces conducted an air-landing in the town of al-Hurayjah and arrested several locals suspected of cooperating with ISIS.

“As a result of the landing, a group of locals who work in oil smuggling were arrested under the charges of cooperating with ISIS,” the blog’s reporter in Deir Ezzor said.

From its side, the SDF’s security forces carried out a security operation in the town of al-Hwaij. At least five locals were arrested, supposedly because of their connections with ISIS.

A few days ago, the U.S.-led coalition killed a civilian during a similar “anti-terrorism” operation in southeast Deir Ezzor.

The Pentagon announced earlier this month that it had resumed anti-terrorism operations in Deir Ezzor in cooperation with the SDF. At least 500 U.S. service members were kept in the region to participate in these operations and “guard” Syrian oil fields.
