The U.S. is working on finding locations for new bases for its troops and gear after the Afghanistan withdrawal.

“Our contacts with Tajik and Uzbek partners indicate that there was no official appeal to them. This time. As Interfax previously reported, in early May, The Wall Street Journal, citing US military officials, wrote that American analysts were considering the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East as an option to move troops and equipment from Afghanistan.

The last Uzbek President Islam Karimov had invited the Americans to use an old Soviet airbase in Karshi Khanabad after 9/11. Then the Americans began to meddle in Uzbekistan’s internal affairs and Karimov kicked them out. I highly doubt Mirzoyaev will invite them back because they have not changed. They will make problems for Uzbekistan if Mirzoyaev invites them in.
