U.S. Prepares New Strikes On Government Facilities In Syria: Russian Military

Militants of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), aided by British intelligence, are preparing to stage a chemical attack in northern Syria that will be used as a pretext for a new missile strike by the U.S., the UK and France on facilities of the Damascus government, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov announced on August 25.

“According to the information confirmed simultaneously by several independent sources, the active terrorist grouping Hayat Tahrir al-Sham is plotting a new provocation with the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government forces against civilians in the Idlib province … A special group of terrorists who have been trained by specialists of the UK private military company Olive to handle chemical warfare agents has also arrived in the area of Jisr ash-Shughur,” Konashenkov said, according to the Russian news agency TASS.

Konashenkov revealed that the U.S. is already preparing for the new missile strike. According to the  statment, the US Navy’s destroyer Sullivans with 56 cruise missiles on board arrived in the Persian Gulf several days ago while a B-1B strategic bomber of the US Air Force armed with AGM-158 JASSM air-to-surface missiles was redeployed to the al-Udeid air base in Qatar.

“The actions by Western countries contrary to public statements are aimed at another dramatic escalation of the situation in the Middle East and at disrupting the peace process on the territory of Syria,” Konashenkov warned.

Earlier this week, the U.S., the UK and Franc released a joint statement, in which they condemned the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Damascus government. The three countries vowed to “respond appropriately to any further use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime.”

U.S. President Donald Trump ordered a strike on the Shayrat air base in center Syria on April 7 of 2017 in response to the alleged use of chemical weapons in the Syrian town of Khan Shaykhun. Later on April 14 of 2018, the UK and France joined the U.S. in a second strike on Syria, which was promoted as a response to the alleged chemical attack in the Damascus subrub of Duma.

Some experts believe that the U.S. and its allies may indeed strike Syria again as they are desperate in their attempts to pressure the Damascus government and its allies in any possible way.

Here we go again – East Ghouta take 2. Bolton already gave the green light to jihadis with the usual red line warning about chemical use. Trump is looking to distract from his domestic problems.

James

….and they probably see it as a perfect test opportunity against Russian provided air defenses.

Carol Davidek-Waller

Russian air defenses have all ready proven to be effective.

TiredOfBsToo

I don’t recall Russia having used it’s S-400’s yet. I’m sure if it had, you wouldn’t be seeing threats of air strikes in support of terrorists by the uninvited parasites to Syria.

zman

Publicly they haven’t, in actuality, who knows? The Syrians have used their Russian supplied Pantsirs pretty effectively. I think that is what CDW is referring to. Syrian AA=Russian AA.

TiredOfBsToo

How many cruise missiles will it be this time? I expect the terrorists are trying to figure out how many missiles it takes to overwhelm the small air defense system in place in Syria; no doubt to calculate whether it’s feasible to attack Russia without committing suicide.

zman

No doubt. I suspect you are right on the money. The second attack was double the first and there are at least 100 missiles there in US stores right now. How many more in NATO/Israel? I fear Russia will have a rough row to hoe this time around…at least when trying to avoid escalation. But I think you’re right, they will continue to escalate their attacks until they find the right ‘formula’. Sooner or later, Russia is going to have to give the west a black eye. Otherwise they would have to capitulate and throw away all they’ve accomplished and the Russian blood that has been spent. The west is so desperate right now they might even attack Russian troops just to force Putins hand. Not one thing is beyond their capacity to foment war. But never count Putin out, as he is very resourceful and can be ruthless when necessary as well.

You can call me Al

+ S-200s.

Joe

The ones in Syria are dummies …

FlorianGeyer

The S400’s were used about once in a ground attack mode soon after they deployed them to Syria if my memory is correct.

TiredOfBsToo

ground attack?

FlorianGeyer

Yes I am sure they also have that capability.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-400_missile_system

“In 2016, Russian anti-aircraft missile troops received new guided missiles for S-300 and S-400 defense systems.[57] Anti-aircraft missile system, designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, it can also be used against ground objectives.”

TiredOfBsToo

Thanks for that. I was under the impression it was strictly anti-aircraft.

FlorianGeyer

I rarely remember names or trivia but I am fortunate to usually remember more important things. That’s why many get infuriated with me :)

John Whitehot

nah, they used the cruise missiles of the “bastion” complex who are able to fire an array of different missiles both a2g and antiship.

SAMs used in a2g role are a mostly a waste, and there’s no point in testing them in Syria, as tests made at home are more than adequate

Joe

Nay… Russian S400 will keep still as it may prove to be ineffective. So far all talk but no action. S400 have not shot down a single plane in history so far.

As usual SAA has to find its own ways to protect their forces.

John Whitehot

bs. if the syrian s200 are more than able to shoot down israeli f-16 like it happened, the russian s400s are more than able to shoot down anything undesired in syrian skies.

Ma_Laoshi

Yup, gotta keep those skills sharp. Last time round Macron joined in the chest-beating, then went to I think it was St. Petersburg as if nothing had happened. If there are no consequences, why not do it again.

You can call me Al

Yes, many people are saying, as you infer, that this is to test the efficiency / effectiveness of the S-400.

This time they should use it and shoot some of the bastards down + sinking the originator of them.

John Whitehot

to test the s400s, you must attack russian personnel.

which would cause undesirable things all around the world.

otherwise, it’s british tabloid bullshittery:

“US bombs Syria and the s400 is ineffective”.

You aren’t by any chance pushing that editorial line aren t you.

Gregory Casey

Why am I not surprised. The ‘statement’ from the criminal trio of US/UK/France last week that warns Syria was a signal designed to grant aid and comfort to reprehensible jihadi terrorists in Idlib

Lena Jones

This article fails to mention that this next strike, if it happens, will again be for the benefit of the terrorist, klepto regime in tel aviv.

potcracker2588

chlorine came in through turkey

Ma_Laoshi

It would seem so. There is this titanic effort to pry Turkey loose from the Empire, but it leaves one with the question: under Erdogan, is it worth it? May be just as well to leave the Turkish corncob stuck in NATO’s bowels.

Promitheas Apollonious

are you aware how the western system create the sickness and then come with the cure that usually are laws against you?

That is how turkey is used right now, as the catalyst, that will cure the world from its sickness. What happens to turkey with this experiment it is completely irrelevant to the ones they caused it to happen, but I am sure also they are trying to take control of everything in turkey from the war industry to agriculture, both the russians and the chinese.

You can call me Al

But supplied by the Turkish, Yanks of even Kurds ?. I cannot believe that Turkey would supply it – would they ???!!!!.

FlorianGeyer

In this mad conflict anything could happen.

Redadmiral

I really don’t think so. There is an established pattern!!! But Hope burns eternal…

Promitheas Apollonious

let us see if this time they will have the proper response. Allowing a war crime to be committed repeatedly, makes you an accessory, to the crime.

Ma_Laoshi

The “pro-Russian” press mostly writes off these strikes (we seem to have accelerated from the established yearly schedule) as symbolic. But when, at the baptism anniversary, Putin bowed his head to the Cross, it indicates an awareness that some symbols matter a great deal. The overt preparations seem to be a calculated part of the theater, “whatcha gonna do about it?”

Russia potentially has leverage in that it could, say, deliver anti-air capabilities with real bite to Syria, and if needed also to Hezbollah. That Russia has not done so would, in a rational world, imply that it received some concessions and guarantees in return. What were they? Are they compatible with these periodic bombings, and all the other abuse which Russia has to endure?

You can call me Al

NO – Russia made it quite clear when entering Syria, in that they would attack back, only if they were attacked ie Russian bases etc.. Damascus agreed to this.

zman

True. If the west is so dead set to involve Russia, what would stop them from targeting Russian forces and claim it was an accident? After all, how many ‘accidents’ has the US created? It would certainly be a way to force Putin’s hand. They are very desperate to get something started, as they see the writing on the wall.

Manuel Flores Escobar

They cannot pressure nothing!…US and Israeli attacks causes minimal damage( just like any terrorist offensive) as we have seen along these years!…thanks to Syrian air defense system like Pantsir or Buk m2…and Thanks that USA fear to use B2 over Damascus to avoid be shot down in the style of F-117…

Jesus

Yea, when they open the bomb bay doors, they become visible and a sitting duck target. B2 is not maneuverable and does not carry stand-off weapons.

Ma_Laoshi

More often than not, on this forum we misunderstand each other because we come from different reference frames; in the real world, it’s not much different. No the Empire didn’t achieve something as Napoleontic, as ancient, as conquering territory or vanquishing armies. Instead they got Russia to sit down and negotiate with them which Syrian targets should be destroyed; *that* is the image they wanted to be seen in the Philippines and ultimately also Germany–anyone who thinks of yanking at the chain.

Russia keeps earnestly muttering that there was no gas attack in E Ghouta by either party–only confirming that they bring a modern mindset to a postmodern battlefield. The other side just laughs, “Who cares as long as we control the media that matter?” The Kremlin got outmaneuvered a bit: by becoming complicit in “punishing Assad”, they were left without a good story to tell regardless of the quaint facts of the matter. Amidst the disorientation, the Dark Throne then quickly made its move in Armenia, and a bit later in Georgia as well when Russia was tied down with the World Cup. Lots of merriment is bound to ensue in the Caucasus now.

The Donald didn’t literally say “I’ll be back”, but he might as well have. So the Kremlin had time to think how to do better next round. Will they? As long as important factions of the Russian elite see themselves as applicants for approval from, and membership in, the West, they may continue to be treated as gullible Charlie Browns, who set themselves up for endless delicious rounds of football-snatching.

George King

“Who cares as long as we control the media that matter?” This was something that was being said to Russia behind closed doors for sometime with out a Russian response but in the last year has been alluded to openly by different Russian spokespersons and alternative media.

Just like the little boy who cried wolf it backfires at some point. It is obvious that indeed even US citizens are seeking out truth and speaking out against the theft of their Treasure, Commons and Unalienable Rights. Manufactured consent has run its course and is no longer effective, hence the crack down on alternative media and individuals on social media by NGO’s (Atlantic Counsel) and the intel agencies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34LGPIXvU5M

Russia is not going to allow another attack through the Caucasus and is in a position to command its security and will. They are prepared for war and NATO vassals will find no will to fight for the Empire when they are the point of the spear of response from Russia.

Ma_Laoshi

Ah al-Jazeera, once brave truth-tellers who got bombed for it, then later reduced to hawking the moderation of Ahrar al-Sham. Still a good video, thanks.

Again, if the Empire were to roll across the Russian border Napoleon-style, I trust the Russians to fight for all they’re worth. So it is done by a thousand cuts instead. “Poor Donald, the things he has to do to keep the Deep State off his back”, the Kremlin seems to think, without quite grasping that showman Donald wants and enjoys these stunts.

For a PS to my previous post: again the pro-Russian side starts to posture that they can only act if Russians get hurt. It’s music to the Empire’s ears: Washington may smack the poodles around sometimes, but they’d never talk like that if someone else would threaten *their* allies.

Manuel Flores Escobar

Donald wants that US public opinion think that America are strong..while Russia prefer to test its air defense weapons..like they did in that last attack where a ring of Pantsir S2/ Buk M2 destroyed all 15 tomahawk launched towards Al Dumayr air base…

Rob

The US stoogies preparing another chemical attack in Syria.

leon mc pilibin

Syria and Russia should give the Zionists fair warning that if they try this stunt again that they will expect to be attacked in kind.Enough of this satanic terrorist bullshit.

Joe

Retaliate with what? Russia does not supply latest weaponry beyond old systems while very happy to supply enemies of Syria with top systems .

SAA best defence is to play smart and fight like Houthis…

S Melanson

What an interesting world you live in. I will have to come visit some day.

Jim Prendergast

Iran could vaporize the Sullivans. No fooling around like the Israelis did with the USS Liberty, Just poof, send it to the bottom of the Persian Gulf.

Redadmiral

They could BUT what would be the consequence of that?

Carol Davidek-Waller

Bolton specializes in lunacy ending in humiliating defeat. Jihadis, especially backed one’s backed by US, have no constituency in Syria. Russian defensive weapons have and will prove effective.

Promitheas Apollonious

Unless they use the kurds from one side and the turks from the other, at the expense of syria and allies?

You can call me Al

Nope, not happening.

Joe

Bolton, Trump , Nikki and all are really kids playing with nukes.

Cannot even find a better excuse to attack Syria to support terrorists. Yet they claim Iran biggest supporter of terrorists .. gosh . Look into the mirror now

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

bolton still lives in the past where he thinks russian weapons are not very sophisticated, he is in for a rude awakening lol

Rob

Benjanyahu leads US and NATO in wrong direction.

Empire's Frontiers

When the western axis releases statements and warnings as was reported last week, do you suppose the eastern allies smirk with humor or roll their eyes with contempt?

Len Zegelink

wen the us bomb syria ,than must russia bomb the hell out of the us base in al tanf ,and der azuur .

Redadmiral

With plausible deniability of course

Blas de Lezo

Assad and Russia should finish off Idlib ASAP regardless of the cost. there will be no place to stage fake chemical attacks after that.

Sinbad2

The US/UK will simply stage an attack elsewhere, even in their own countries. Look at how the British have been poisoning their own people, these people have no moral boundaries.

John

We know for sure they will strike .It seems this time they would like to ensure they cause lots of pain to Russia following what has been going on recently.Sanctioning and blaming Russia @the same time.warning all countries against buying Russian weapons.its very open now but am just happy how Russia gather information fast and acting promptly.last time Russia showed strength.Do we even ask if Israel will still participate coz it seems human life in Syria is important than Gaza teenies killed every friday not forgetting Yemen children who are dying in every strike.Talk of interests in these countries who don’t even care.

frankly

Every day that passes without WWIII strengthens the forces opposed to F.uk.us and co-conspirators.

Offer reconciliation or evacuation to your sworn enemies. Then use CW (that the OPCW swears you don’t have), on the civilian families of your hugely successful army, all without damaging your sworn enemies.

Assad did not get through med school by being stupid. Pretty good example of the “the big lie” though.

FlorianGeyer

FUKUS are so inept that have a history of rehearsals before their inhouse terror attacks and false flags around the globe :)

Russia is now in a difficult position as their people and leadership realise what real war means BUT the stark choice if FUKUS decide to attack is to hoist the white flag and accept the hegemony and economic plunder of Russia and the BRICS nations.

I hope Russia will fight , even though it will harm me.

President Putin hoped that the FUKUS leaders would quietly withdraw. He is not dealing with rational people though.

Sinbad2

Watch the economy, the US is a financial house of cards. They use war as a means of hiding their vulnerability.

FlorianGeyer

Yes, the US playbook is not very original. War has always been a way to unite a nation BUT with the internet the propaganda lies to do so will dissipate and divide opinions these days. Rather like the divisions we see with Brexit and the US elections.

Any attempts to create a war would likely create civil wars in the US and UK.

This is of course why the Deep State is so desperate to neuter alternative debate and images on the Internet by the plethora of other news sources that to not accord with the parroting of the FUKUS + Israeli State Media and Intelligence services.

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

russia please just shoot everything down this time, including the ships and planes they launch the missiles from, they need to understand these attacks have consequences

S Melanson

My response would be as follows:

If the missile strike is mostly for show like the last two, respond as before – product testing electronic warfare systems and air defence systems. The both sides denounce each other and finish with a wink as the terrorists in Idlib meet their maker.

If the missile strike hits SAA, Hezbollah and or Iranian personal hard as well as real damage to military installations, then target US/UK special forces, mercenaries and command posts with Kalibre cruise missiles.

If the strike targets Russian military assets and causes casualties and damage to infrastructure, the do the above plus take out the B1 bomber now based in Qatar. Further, place tactical nukes in Russian bases in Syria and maintain them on alert.

zman

I like the way you think!

frankly

Lot’s of lock and load comments. I pray no innocents have already been filmed for this latest show by White Helmets. I pray we are still debating the pros and cons on Monday. If it all goes to pieces tomorrow, I pray we can gather in the next world and have a chuckle or two.

I would really hate it if John McCain outlives us. But ah well, as this world goes to hell, the next one might be ok.

Ronald

One prayer answered, McCain died 5 hours after your posting. Indomitable Will : Godspeed .

Ivan Freely

Bwahahaha….may SongBird Rot In Purgatory.

Redadmiral

Surely: Satanic Speed to Hell-Fire

Sinbad2

The US tried to attack Syria with missiles, and Russian electronic warfare devices defeated the missiles. The US went away and modified the missiles, and then struck Syria with many different kinds of missiles to see which ones worked, the modified missiles also failed.

So now the US is trying again, to see if it can penetrate Russian defenses. Do not be surprised if some of these modified missiles are ALLOWED to hit their targets, because it is in Russia’s interests to get the US to waste large sums of money pointlessly modifying its missile arsenal.

Merijn

The U.S….The U.K….IsraHell..& France are DONE…. when Peoples Realise what their Governments Did… they will be Dragged through the Streets & Hung…The Lynchmob & Anger is Growing in the West…Fucking Filthy TRAITORS!!! With YOUR HEADCHOPPING TERRORISTS!!!

russ

It’s not going to happen here. Did you ever see the zombie movies where to distract the zombies they shoot fireworks into the air? Well that’s what will happen here in America when we start getting angry and just have a news flash about the Kardashians and we’ll go back to zombie ism.

Jim Prendergast

1. neutralize HTS in Jisr ash-Shurghur. 2. light-up U.S. sea and air assets. 3. Jam all U.S. systems. 4. Wait and see what happens.

John Whitehot

“2. light-up U.S. sea and air assets.”

Why not:

2. Start global thermonuclear war.

“My bombers will give you an headstart of 20 nukes!”.

Ripper, it’s time to drop the mask.

Jim Prendergast

The U.S. sees a large cluster of well defined targets assembled for the liberation of Idlib. They themselves present a wealth of military hardware for destruction. No one wants war.

RichardD

The evil Jew baby raping leg breakers are going to try to drag out the Syrian war for as long as possible in an effort to delay potential action against them in the occuppied territories supported by the Syrian government coalition.

Knowing that the capabilies currently present in Syria can be used to support the Palestinian protection force being formed at the UN and hopefully also supported by Israel’s other neighbors beside Syria. So that if authorised military force is used. Israel and the IDF will suffer a rout and the vast majority of damage if they oppose the deployment of the protection force.
