On July 21st, a US service member died in Syria.
The individual, whose service branch hasn’t been released yet, was assigned to the Operation Inherent Resolve coalition.
“Initial reports indicate the incident was not due to enemy contact,” reads a brief Inherent Resolve press release. “The incident is under investigation.”
The individual’s identity will be released after their next of kin have been notified, Inherent Resolve officials stated.
There have been four hostile deaths and five non-combat deaths under the Inherent Resolve mission in 2020. All of the combat deaths have been in Iraq.
It is possible that the fatality occurred in the incident that can be seen below:

This is likely since in January 2020, four American service members died in what was called a “rollover incident” in Syria. Two died in northern Iraq and the latest, a soldier, died in Jordan in 2020.
In March 2020, one airman and one soldier were killed during a rocket attack on Camp Taji in Iraq. Before that, two Marine Raiders were killed in Iraq’s southern Makhmur Mountains while clearing a tunnel complex full of ISIS militants.
There are still several hundred US soldiers in Syria, spread across several bases. They generally train and assist the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as well as protect the oil wells that the US has occupied and refuses to return to the Syrian government.
U.S. troops frequently patrol the area, where the Syrian Arab Army and its Russian support also patrol.
There are also hundreds of U.S. special operations troops training anti-ISIS forces at a remote garrison at Tanf in the country’s southeast, near the borders with Iraq and Jordan.
Overall, nearly 150 U.S. service members have been wounded in action this year, as well. One Marine, 10 airmen and 138 soldiers have been wounded in combat in 2020, according to Pentagon data.

American manufacturing, engineering and industrial/product design competency really is dog shite. Yet another example of the failure of American style hyper-capitalism. All the wealth has been stolen by the greediest of these b@stards at the top, leaving nothing left to motivate the creative and innovative ones at the bottom.
well known…planned obsolescence…the purpose of US business is not tp procure quality, but garbage. ” the purpose of US business is to stay in business”. David Riesman coke, Pepsi spend billions of dollars on advertising to convince amerikans that these choices mean “freedom”….”only in the US to people purchase products advertised by celebrities that don’t use the products”.
