On June 18, Libyan sources released several photos showing units of the Libyan National Army (LNA) escorting a Russian-made Pantsir-S1 air-defense system near al-Jufra Airbase in the central part of the country.

The system showed by the photos is wheeled on German-made MAN SX 45 8×8 trucks. This variant is in service with the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces only, which leaves no doubts about the origin of the system.
The Pantsir-S1, which designed to defend installations, is armed with two dual 2A38M 30 mm autocannon guns along with up to twelve radio-command-guided 57E6 surface-to-air missiles with an operational range of 20 km and a flight altitude of 10 km.

The UAE’s decision to supply such an advanced air-defense system to the LNA was likely a response to the increasing Turkish involvement in Libya. Earlier this month, Libyan sources confirmed that Ankara deployed several unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) in the country to support forces loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA).
The Pantsir-S1 system will not be effective against the Turkish UCAVs only, but also against the aged warplanes of the GNA’s air force. This will likely give the LNA a major advantage and give the Libyan Air Force (LAF) a chance to gain aerial superiority.

Israeli drones in the area are just bait on a hook. The time to militarily challenge Israel will come, but there is much to do before that .

Because usually Syria use to switch automatic mode instead of radio.command control which need better qualification!..anyway SAF have shot down many air to ground missile and guide bombs..Israeli drones avoid to enter in Syria air space!..Pantsir is a reliable weapons…one example is that Pantsir with Russian crew shot down 16 incoming barrage of grad rockets in Latakia air base!
I didn’t say Pantsir is not good. I’m saying Israel can avoid them easily since they have been sold to UAE and Saudis. Or even worse, Russia never meant to protect Syrians with it.
israel cannot avoid nothing..when you launch an air to ground missile..radar from pantsir or another detect incoming missile and you are monitoring it or some more with IR termal camera linked to launch system!..then it depends of many factor to destroy the missile…for example is better the explosion in parallel than in front or back..because the explosion launch a blade propeller with have more effectiveness in parallel. of course no air defense system have 100% ratio!

they have been! even the israeli harp failed! So much so that israel deciminated amongst its own population, propaganda showing a Pantsir being destroyed only for it to be proven FAKE! Well not fake but a doctored video! The pantsir had already expended its ammunition (had a loading truck next to it.) the loading truck appeared in the final seconds of the video that was on the israeli suicide drone! As it plays out, the drone is homing in on a Pantsir, suddenly it cuts to a new video edit and there is a truck sitting behind the pantsir (a loading truck). So they showed footage of a drone that almost got to a pantsir, then a video of a drone that destroyed a pantsir that was empty of munitions and being reloaded!
The only munitions that seem to be working are NOT israeli Harp suicide drones! They are the US glided bombs! These bombs can steer and glide a very very long distance to its target, is very small and manoeuvre quite well! They are a free falling bomb and therefore have no heat signature nor a radar homing device! They are pre programmed to hit certain targets and then use target recognition and GPS to hit their target! Probably can do it without gps but unsure how accurate!
Of course if it was a Russian operated pantsir the story would be different! Russians would have Electronics jammers and all sorts of things going on too which the syrians dont have but russia likes to add them AFTER the fact (plus dont want their adversaries testing their own equipment against the Russian EW in a smaller proxy war such as this! You save that stuff for much bigger wars!)
That way Russia is “responding” rather than “escalating” situations! Plus they get to test their equipment along the way! Add what is needed as needed to defend. All this info is KNOWN by other nations military intel! They KNOW what worked and what failed! This is why countries like UAE are buying them! Because they work! Even without the additional umbrella protection of Russian radars and EW jammers etc!
Bcs. they are afraid to aggravate the situation. As they should be. The Russian Nation is yet not free from its colonial status,and as such the SAA, as well as the Lugansk/Donetsk forces and the Transnistrian loyalists are ordered to not cause any additional provocations.
If the Russian army leave Transnistria, that loyalty is gone
They are there in the first place BCS of said loyalty unto the Soviet Union. But if they go, massacre would ensue quickly on the part of Moldova, or rather Romania, with the USA as main encouraging party.
I think Putin is negotiating right now to replace Russian peace keepers with UN peace keepers there. He can’t protect that piece of land for long, it’s too far from home, he has to bribe both Ukraine and Moldova to keep the borders open.
If the Soviet Union is restored – I mean territory wise, not ideology – and this is the only real fight that is ongoing inside Russia and all the other CIS, then this question will become obsolete within a very short span of time. For the time being, nothing of the sort is likely to happen.
