UK Sends Largest Royal Navy Presence To Baltic Sea In Over 100 Years

IMAGE: Royal Navy

Over 4,000 service personnel and 44 ships from seven different countries in the British-led Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) have been participating in a mission in Lithuania close to Russia’s Kaliningrad. The drills are the largest presence of the Royal Navy in the Baltic Sea for more than a century. However, it’s only the  recent in a series by Western forces in eastern and northern Europe.

According to Royal Navy statements, more than 3,000 British troops and 16 navy ships are currently deployed in the region.

Speaking on board the Royal Navy ship HMS Albion involved in the Operation Baltic Protector, the UK’s Defence Secretary stated that London is considering to increase its presence in the region in order to counter the so-called Russian threat.

“Russia is becoming more assertive, we see her deploying more forces and new weapons and we can imagine scenarios that may play out in future. So it is important and right that we stand together with our allies,” Penny Mordaunt said.

“What we have seen here is the largest Royal Navy deployment in the Baltic Sea for more than a hundred years.”

That gives us an adaptable force, the ability to deploy more than 10,000 people on the whole variety of missions, independently or as part of Nato operations … we have shifted our budgets to be more focused on the region.”

The Defense Secretary one again repeated the mantra about supposed “democratic values”, which the UK and other NATO member states have to defend, in an attempt to justify the ongoing military build up near Russian borders.

In April, the UK deployed attack and battlefield reconnaissance helicopters in Estonia in the framework of NATO efforts to ‘deter’ Russia. The British attack helicopters were set to participate in Estonia’s annual Exercise Spring Storm and to the UK-led battlegroup deployed on NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence.

Everytime the idiots do this display of limpness, Russia should start an exercise in Kalingrad that is double the size of the Euro-Atlantacist trouble creators, just to prove how “deterred” Russia is.

AM Hants

Must admit, my first thought. Remember the Siberian exercise, with over 300,000 Russian personnel, with quite an impressive display of weapons and systems at hand?

NATO so need a wake up call and get out of the Baltic and Black Seas.

Remember, the Secretary of State, James Baker, promising Gorbechev, if only he would dismantle the Warsaw Pact and remove the Soviet tanks from the streets of Eastern Europe, they would not move an inch into EE. Now, 14 NATO bases, and rising, with US tanks out on the streets of EE.

Hisham Saber

Those Siberian exercises also included Chinese and Mongolian equipment and thousands of troops.

AM Hants

Majority Russian and 300,000. Compared to NATO and 30,000. However, also as you mentioned not forgetting the Chinese and Mongolian support.

Sinbad2

That’s what the axis powers want, they are trying to make Russia look aggressive. However all they are doing is making the axis powers look aggressive.

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

Hahahaha yes, the perfect response

Rob

If idiots of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Turkey were not exist in this world then US and NATOs would never dare to sent ACC, war Ships etc to Persian Gulf. Similarly Palestine, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan and other nations would be safer from US and Israeli invasions.

Mike

Pathetic lap-dog make believe country.

FlorianGeyer

Image is everything in UK Make Believe, Mike :)

AM Hants

Trouble is, the image makers, appear to be blind and unable to read braille.

FlorianGeyer

‘There are none so blind as those who do not wish to see’ :)

I was shocked to read in the Saturday Telegraph today that Theresa May wants to further cripple the UK before she leaves with her legacy of ‘hair shirt ‘acts of parliament. She wishes to enshrine in law that immigrants to the UK should be paid a ‘basic income ‘ of thirty thousand pounds per year. Javid to his credit has vetoed this insult to us all. I would think its Ms Mays ‘ fuck you’ to the so called ‘deplorable s’ she blames for Brexit.

I am proud to be part of that stalwart group that includes people from all parts of British society.

Theresa May will be remembered for being the worst and also the most blinkered Prime Minister this nation has ever had , in my opinion.

AM Hants

Jeremy Hunt, will endorse her desires, if he gets in. Boris, I do not trust, at all. We cannot give the disabled, the truly disabled PIP, owing to Government trying to cut them out, yet, no problem with £30,000 for the economic migrants. Same with the US, offering ‘free health care’ to the illegals, whilst the majority in the US cannot afford health bills.

So many NGOs, running on tax payer money, calling policy, to keep their illegal supply of immigrants industry up and running. Why do politicians and NGOs, non elected and not wanted, believe tax payers money, is their personal petty cash, when it comes to keeping their sponsors, lobbyists and activists (Government funded) in clover?

FlorianGeyer

We live in a society where all aspects of industry and commerce are continuing to follow the ever accelerating trend of the use of ‘tools’ by man ( not to forget women of course. Hoovers etc) :)

AI, or in simple language, machines that are able to re-program themselves to perform tasks, are now taking away the need for human thinking employment as well.

‘In the beginning the machines came for the manual workers and we said nothing, then they came for the middle management and we said nothing, and now they come for us ( the low level elite).’

This being the case, all immigrants will be a burden on society ,and the only possible reason for the Global Deep State to encourage ‘war migration’, is to fracture established societies as a whole in order to prevent nations that are able to become united against those who seek to further enslave us.

AM Hants

Haha, despite being female, I did laugh at the mention of hoovers. Ooooops. letting down the sisterhood. Funnily enough, both husbands, were better with a hoover than me. I have an addiction to blocking the tubes, without realising. Just could never figure out why they picked up nought, when I tried them out.

So true, you last sentence. Even Blair admitted that was his aim, when he opened up the UK for immigration. To dilute our culture and traditions. No wonder he scrapped ‘treason’.

Paul

Lol Just one of the effective ways to Lamp light our spouses put a ping pong up the tube, then tell them they cant even hoover!

CHUCKMAN

A gigantic boy scout outing.

I guess British forces have nothing constructive or useful to do, so they’ve thrown a big, noisy party.

Hisham Saber

The British, I understand they act like Hooligans everywhere they go. They will quickly learn this is no soccer match and get busted up by Russia and sent home with a bunch of mysteriously broken down ships.

AM Hants

Live in England, born and bred. and just cannot comprehend this Government. Used to vote Conservative, but, now no longer vote. So not saying it, owing to supporting another party.

The sooner they fumigate Westminster, quarantine it and then allow the sane to stand for Government, will not be a day too soon.

………………..

Bearing in mind, the UK Defence Budget, is only a $billion in difference, to the Russian Defence Budget. Believe, the UK is around $46 billion (using $ not £) and Russia’s is around $47 billion.

Yet, our Armed Forces are cut to the bone and in the Navy, we have more Admirals than working ships, including life boats.

……………..

The UK, had 3 aircraft carriers, after £multi-million refits, they were sent to the Turkish scrapyards.

We have just sold our one and only amphibious ships to Brazil.

UK Frigates are held up in Portsmouth dockyard, owing to not being able to manage warm weather.

Then you have our new aircraft carrier, which had to go through a re-fit, before she was commissioned, owing to messing up the pipe work. Plus, she is short of planes, owing to having to wait for the F35 trash on order.

We have 4 old balistic submarines, due to come to the end of their missiles shelf life and Russia can hear coming out of Faslane, before they even reach passage down the Clyde.

6 Swiftsure submarines were retired, as we waited for the Astute Class to take their place. The Trafalgar class, should be retired, but, had to hold on, till Astute turned up, just a decade late.

Do believe only 3 Astute class submarines, out of a total of 7 (in various stages of build) have managed to reach active service. Remember, they are not lucky submarines. A rating, shot one of the officers, when she was only just commissioned and prior to commissioning the submarine, she got written off in a operational exercise, to get her ready for active service. Her sister, who came later, also ended up with £millions in repair bills, owing to another spot of trouble.

The HMS Vigilant, turned up in the US, and owing to allowing female submariners the Commanding Officer and First Lieutenant, had to be replaced, for not keeping it in their trousers. Not sure what happened to the female officers, they were friendly with. Then you had the problems, with the crew and enjoying themselves a tad too much.

HMS Vigilant: Nine sailors sacked after failing drugs tests… https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41786237

…………………

HMS Vigilant officers threatened to resign over affairs on board nuclear-armed Royal Navy submarine by captain and his second-in-command

‘…Stuart Armstrong, 41, commanding officer of the Vanguard-class submarine HMS Vigilant, has been relieved of duties while he is under investigation.

And just yesterday it emerged his second is command has also been relieved of his duties while an investigation into alleged sexual affairs with a separate female officer emerged.

A Navy source told The Times: ‘A group of officers threatened to resign as soon as the boat reached the US and the CO and XO were then relieved of their command.’

Another source added: ‘The trouble is with something of this magnitude it can destroy the camaraderie that goes with the officer corps. The code was put there specifically to stop this happening.’…’

………………

So what are we going to send to Khaliningrad? Has anybody read the John Helmer article, concerning USS Donald Cook and the Poles, trying to cause trouble, near Khalingrad? You would have thought, after the USS Donald Cook, got too close to Crimea, it might have learnt it’s lesson, when getting too close and personal to Russian military bases?

John Helmer: What The USS Donald Cook and Polish Navy Were Doing Off Kaliningrad When They Were Buzzed By the Russian Air Force… https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2016/04/john-helmer-what-the-uss-donald-cook-and-polish-navy-were-doing-off-kaliningrad-when-they-were-buzzed-by-the-russian-air-force.html

…………..

Would love to see Russia hold a military exercise, in the Baltic Sea, similar to the one she held last year, in Siberia, I believe. With over 300,000 serving military personnel and an impressive show of just what she has in her arsenal. Preferably, either starting or ending, when NATO turns up or is on the point of leaving. NATO, believes 30,000 of their serving military personnel is a mega exercise.

You can call me Al

Ditto.

FlorianGeyer

Its frightenly reassuring to learn that Britain’s maritime nuclear force is led by people with no self discipline and a broken moral compass :)

Temper this with LGBT relationships and illicit relationships that cross the verboten Other Rank and Officer Divide, and we have a recipe for what we have. An insurmountable problem.

Long may it last.

AM Hants

Do you remember ‘Operation Petticoat’? That was without the nukes.

‘Coke and lust’ on board a nuclear deterrent, now what on earth could possibly go wrong? Do believe we are b*ggared.

FlorianGeyer

I would think that many UK sailors have the b*ggered feeling as well, AM :)

It was only a few years ago that US nuclear missile troops were found to be taking cocaine whilst on duty as well.

omrizkiblog

Good for entertainment only, not good in real war… ☕

Hisham Saber

Would make a great Corral Reef.

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

I am so damn tired of the UK, the anglo saxons in general. They have done nothing but lie, cheat, steal, and plunder other nations. Its time they got a severe ass kicking. What is the point of these exercises? Russia is right there, she sees what you’re doing, how to counter it, etc.

FreePalestine_BDS

The UK, a has-been, still-wannabe empire. A joke.
