Late on September 7, the Russian military foiled an attempt by Keiv forces to attack the Bryansk region with suicide drones.
In a statement, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that two drones were shot down over the region by air defense means. No casualties or material losses were reported.
“The Kiev regime’s attempt to commit a terrorist attack targeting facilities on the Russian Federation’s territory with the use of fixed-wing drones was thwarted on the evening of September 7,” the ministry said. “Air defense units on duty intercepted two unmanned aerial vehicles above the territory of the Bryansk Region. One of them was destroyed in midair.”
The next day, September 8, Belograd governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced that Kiev forces had fired 60 shells at the region.
“The village of Novopetrovka in the Valuysk Municipality was shelled from cannon artillery, with four hits recorded. … Windows were blown out in three private residences. Also as a result of the shelling, dry grass caught fire on an area of 100 square meters. The fire was extinguished by a volunteer firefighting team,” the governor said on Telegram.
According to Gladkov, a Ukrainian mortar attack targeted the outskirts of Zadorozhnoye in the Krasnoyaruzhny district, with five hits recorded. A power line sustained damage as a result of the shelling and has since then been repaired.
“Three mortar shells were fired on the outskirts of the village of Prilesye, and another three artillery shells were fired on the outskirts of the village of Staroselye,” he added.
In addition, an improvised explosive device was dropped from a drone on the outskirts of Bogun-Gorodok in the Borisovsky district.
The outskirts of Staroye in the Volokonovsky district was also targeted with mortar fire, with three hits registered. Gladkov added that Ukrainian forces fired 12 mortar shells on the outskirts of Zarechye-Vtoroye in the Graivoron district, and another three mortar shells on the outskirts of Dronovka.
Ten mortar shells also targeted Novaya Tavolzhanka in the Shebekinsky district, and another seven and six mortar shells on Belyanka and Surkovo, said the governor, adding that four more mortar shells landed in Pankov and Terezovka.
The attack came as Kiev forces were sustaining heavy losses across the frontline within the special military operation zone.
On September 7, Russian news sources shared videos showing a series of strikes with precision-guided glide bombs that targeted Ukrainian positions near Mala Tokmachka and Rabotino in the Zaporozhye direction.
More videos from Zaporozhye and other direction showed 16 strikes with FPV suicide drones against Ukrainian troops and equipment.
Overall, Ukraine’s increasing attacks on Russian territory are not effecting the situation on the front. Kiev forces are still bogged down kilometers away from the Russian lines of defense. The Russian military continues to be the dominant force.
