Ukraine Imposes Martial Law, Calls On Foreign States To Deploy Warships, Observers In Black Sea, Sea Of Azov

ILLUSTRATIVE IMAGE: NATO Maritime Command

On November 26, Ukraine’s parliament voted to impose martial law in parts of the country to fight what President Petro Porshenko called “growing aggression” from Russia.

The move was justified by the November 25 maritime incident between the Ukrainian naval group and Russian coastal guards in the Black Sea off Crimea, when 3 Ukrainian warships violated Russina territorial waters and were detained and escroted to the Russian port of Kerch.

Russia and Ukraine blamed each other for the escalation, which seems to be the biggest incident between the states since 2014. It should be noted that testimonines from the detained Ukrainian servicemen confirm that the November 25 was a pre-planned provocation by the Poroshenko regime.

The 30-days long martial law is starting in some regions of Ukraine on November 28 morning. Accoridng to an initial announcement, the martial law will be employed in 10 Ukrainian regions. The chosen regions are bordering Russia, Belarus and Moldova’s breakaway republic of Trans-Dniester. These regions were described by Poroshenko as a possible front against the “Russian agressor”.

“Martial law doesn’t mean declaring a war,” Poroshenko claimed. “It is introduced with the sole purpose of boosting Ukraine’s defense in the light of a growing aggression from Russia.”

However, the final list of these regions is currently unclear because different Ukrainian official sources provide different lists.

The approved martial law measures include a partial mobilization, strengthening of air defenses, anti-terrorism measures and “information security” that will for sure impact rights and freedoms of the Ukrainian population.

Seaprately, the Ukrainian Parliament adopted an amazing by its sentense resolution calling on naval powers to deploy warships and observers in the region of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea in order to prevent further “esclation” of the situation by Russia.

It’s interesting to get how members of the Ukrainian Parliament imagine deployment of some foriegn “observers” in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Do they suppose that Polish or Romanian snorkeling swimmers should swim from Odessa to Mariupol defending peaceful Ukrainian warships from dark-minded Russian coastal guards?

No doubt the legislation was written well before the three boats even left port !

this is straight out of the FUKUS playbook…porky isnt smart enough to run by himself…he is acting under orders…his own sailors declared they were provoking under orders, but the FUKUS media arm is calling it “russian aggression”…gonna get the teeth, if they arnt careful….his people are freezing, and he decides to finance “full readiness for war”…he aint gonna make it…

AmericanCossack

Can somebody just shoot Willy Wonkashenko already!

Potato Potato

Calls already for NATO to position ships in the Sea of Azov to ensure ‘freedom of navigation’ for Ukraine in international waters (except the Sea of Azov is NOT international waters, it is joint Russian and Ukranian internal waters).

Quote last 24hrs: Anders Åslund, a resident senior fellow in the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, said: “NATO and the United States should send in naval ships in the Sea of Azov to guarantee that it stays open to international shipping.”

also, US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said “Russia’s actions to impede maritime transit are further examples of its ongoing campaign to undermine and destabilize Ukraine, as well as its disregard for international norms.”

Also,

Calls from US and Ukrainian extremists for the bridge to be taken down (either by machines or bombs) are well documented too, but now even the EU is ‘suggesting’ the bridge may have to go:

Quote last 24hrs:

Kocijancic, the EU spokesperson, said “the construction of the bridge took place without Ukraine’s consent and constitutes another violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

LOL

Someone needs to lighten this BS up by doing a mash up video of the chase down of the Ukrainian ships by the Russians set to ‘Benny Hill’ music. LOL.

John

They can’t do anything so, as usual, it’s time to send out a barrage of hot air.

Tommy Jensen

One for all and all for one and one ring connect them all. Its resolve freedom now or never for NATO. The problem is Azov is only 7m deep but barges filled up with Marines and machineguns could go in there stealth invisible :-D.

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

I know what you mean! And YOU, General Tommy will lead the first barge for freedom and democracy. Have you tested your nuclear shelter?

Bob

‘One for all and all for one…now or never for NATO.’

Err, guess what, Ukraine is not actually a NATO member – and has absolutely no broader political or military history as part of any western European based alliance. Likewise, nor do US or western Europe have any historical or vital strategic interests within Ukrainian boundaries. In last decades NATO has been an active aggressor in the middle east and in central and eastern Europe.

S Melanson

This is by the playbook to get things going befor Poroporko gets defeated in the coming elections, martial law, how convenient. The Ukrainian sailors are in Russian custody so western media can say confessions due to coercion. Russia needs to be careful not to use detained sailor testimony to give rise to ‘they are torturing sailors’ accusations.

But there seems to be more to this than what is being reported.

PZIVJ

Russia would be wise to return the sailors ASAP. A good will gesture to Porky to shut down MSM BS :)

potcracker2588

no..russia would be wise giving each 10years +

PZIVJ

That would be really ignorant, even for a crackpot. Most do not know the orders that where given.

Neo Onh

Russia should be smart and tempt/persuade/allow the sailors to defect to Russia or even better to Novorossiya!

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

What’s the more?

S Melanson

I am not sure but a number of odd things. Like how supposedly this was Ukraine move without consulting west, but then reports of special ops from west. Also, what was real intention/purpose – to purposely create an incident to get martial law? Why I suppose so blatant a provocation but why have foreign special ops on board to get caught…???

BlueInGreen

I will claim my ignorance before stating the following; Is Ukraine even a viable military threat to Russian forces? It seems like they aren’t really on par with Russian regular forces.

Neil

That is a huge understatement.

BlueInGreen

So they are a threat then?

Neil

Ukraine a military threat to Russia? No, not at all. Ukraine has conscripted everyone they could to fight in Donbass. They’re not well-equipped. Their only hope would be to draw NATO countries into a conflict, but the geography favours Russia: it is easier to supply a defending army than an attacking army. No invasion of Russia has been successful before. Britain attacked Crimea in 1850s, when Russia was armed only with pointy sticks, and Britain lost.

slayern2

Dumb Ukies still desperately trying to start WW3…. They are too stupid to realize – the whole idea is: they dying for NATO, not NATO for them.

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

Precisely. I wonder how long it will take them to realise this? The Banderised Ukrainians really expect the US cavalry to come to their rescue over the Azov horizon. They have been duped by too many Hollywood movies. Poor darlings. Next they will be waiting for a visit from Santa!

FlorianGeyer

” I wonder how long it will take them to realise this? ”

When the Ukranian Bandera followers and their Zionist leaders look like this I suspect :)

VeeNarian (Yerevan)

So, it seems that the immediate danger of escalation is over. RF has lost the media war as it was too busy with diplomacy, but RF forces have made it crystal clear that they will defend RF territory with proportionate force. Their have been injuries of the Ukrainians but no deaths. The offending ships have been captured, and I hope the entire area has been combed for any Nazi deposits left by the US/EU/NATO/Kiev Neo-Nazi gang. The warmongers will be disappointed that they have been unable to engineer more Ukrainian-Russian deaths, so the Donbass could well hot up again to satisfy their blood thirst. What next? An “accidental” invasion of RF territorial waters under the Kerch Bridge by the US Navy seals and UK SBS during a NATO exercise in the Black Sea? Or will Banderised Ukraine suddenly acquire these capabilities under the Ukrainian flag?

Smaug

To… many… quotation marks. Seriously, are you trying to look partial? Anyway, hopefully some sort of permanent arrangement will come from this scare.

potcracker2588

London has sent its airpower and servicemen for a joint drill with Saudi Arabia, despite international pressure to wind down military cooperation with Riyadh after the Khashoggi murder and amid its devastating war in Yemen.

Around 200 Royal Air Force (RAF) servicemen and eight Typhoon jets are now in Saudi Arabia taking part in a ‘pre-planned’ Green Flag exercise to help the Royal Saudi Air Forces (RSAF) maintain its combat readiness.

“The British Royal Air Force aims to integrate all combat systems, including air combat, air support and electronic warfare, and especially how to use them against the enemy’s land defense systems for maximum operational efficiency,” Major General Haidar bin Rafie Al-Omari of the RSAF said on Monday.

Hassadnah Abraham

Relax..world.

Putin and Russia General is not chicken shit…not like Prochenko. I bit of dispute..started to call big brother help.

Peter Moy

So Poroshenko is pleading for help. OK you little worms at NATO headquarters, send HMS Big Lizzie immediately and exercise some Big Big Gunboat policy. I’m sure the Russians will be intimidated. Then a Special Menu Forces Hollywood-style rescue mission can free the hapless, boys in distress maidens from the evil Russkies. A happy ending and everything is back to the status quo. That’s how it’s done, right? (Damn, I wish Benny Hill was leading NATO.)

Daniel Apaza

When will a Russian coup depose the Ukranian Government and install a Pro-Russian Government?
