The Ukrainian counteroffensive in the Kherson region failed. The Ukrainian military failed to expand the zone of control on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River and suffered heavy losses in the operations across the river.
In recent days, Russian forces took back control of military positions in the northern part of the village of Krynki. As a result of the recent Russian advance, the width of Ukrainian stronghold decreased to less than 1 km.
The Ukrainian army lost up to 9, 000 servicemen in attempts to hold the control of the area in two months. The village was ruined. The remnants of the Ukrainian grouping on the eastern bank can no longer conduct military operations and are forced to hide in the rare basements, hiding from heavy Russian fire. The Ukrainian command recently withdrew the main forces and military equipment from Krinky in an attempt to save them from the complete destruction. The elite marine units suffered heavy losses in senseless battles and finally escaped from the village.
Today, the Ukrainian military commanders are sending their unprofessional soldiers to cross the Dnieper and provide at least some support to the forces that are defending Krinky. Most of their boats are destroyed by Russian drone strikes and artillery shelling. Moreover, their operations were complicated by the frozen waters of the river.
The Ukrainian military has no chance to regain the military initiative in the battle for Krynki in the near future. Ukrainian servicemen continue to die to save the reputation of Zelensky and the military leadership in Kiev, which will not survive the recognition of another defeat on the battlefield.
