Ukraine Needs To Develop Its Own Resources After Nord Stream 2 Launched: Saakashvili

After the launch of Nord Stream 2, Ukraine must begin to develop its own resources, said the head of the executive committee of the National Council of Reforms, former President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel.

It is his belief that it is unlikely that the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine will continue after the gas pipeline is put into operation.

“The fact that the geopolitical importance of Ukraine will decrease after the start of Nord Stream 2 is unambiguous. But this must be compensated for by the fact that Ukraine must develop its resources, including green hydrogen,” Saakashvili said.

At the same time, he accused Russia of allegedly wanting to “block off” the Black Sea for Ukraine, since it is in the south of the country that the main deposits of “green” hydrogen are concentrated. “And Russia is looking at these things,” says Saakashvili.

Nord Stream 2 is an almost completed gas pipeline from Russia to Germany with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year.

The project is actively opposed by the United States, which expects to promote its LNG in the EU, as well as Ukraine and Poland, who call the project political.

Washington has imposed sanctions four times in an attempt to thwart construction, but it has reached its final stages.

Ultimately, however, these sanctions and failed and the US gave up. Subsequently,

Washington and Berlin reached an agreement: in particular, Washington acknowledged that sanctions would not stop the project, and Berlin pledged to seek to maintain the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine.

Moscow has repeatedly called for an end of politicization of the the situation, reminding that the gas pipeline is beneficial not only for Russia, but also for the European Union, and emphasizing that it has never used energy resources as an instrument of pressure.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stoked fears, saying that the Germany-US deal on Nord Stream 2 paves the way for “Russian aggression”.

Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pawel Jablonski said that allowing Russia to complete construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was a bad decision that would harm European security.

According to the senior diplomat, by allowing completion of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline construction, the United States and Germany have shown Russian President Vladimir Putin that any such measures may be effectively implemented.

The European Commission has reportedly confirmed receiving a formal request from Ukraine for consultations in connection with the agreement between the United States and Germany on Nord Stream 2.

At the same time, criticizing the U.S.-German agreement, Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus Marcy Kaptur said “Congress must reject any deals that fail to protect transatlantic security and Ukraine’s sovereignty.”

In turn, the European Commission reminded that in case of completion of the gas pipeline, it will be subject to the provisions of the so-called EU Gas Directive, which does not allow the monopoly use of such infrastructure.

If only Ukraine could economically integrate with an economy or region that speaks the same language with historical ties going back 1,000 yrs or so or they can be canon fodder for the U.S. which does not have to live in the house it burns down..

Scaathor

So the tie-eating Butcher of Ossetia is lecturing the Ukropistani Oligarchs about how to run their criminal fiefdom that tries to masquerade as a legitimate nation…. just hilarious.

The Black Terror

According to the dumb Pollack in the article, Russia is the threat to European security. No dummy, the threat to European security is the interloping US, economic sanctions, encroachment on Russia’s border by NATO, rat politicians in the EU and the decades old subservience of European countries to Uncle Shmuel in Washington, DC. Get educated and sober you dummy.

The end

“Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pawel Jablonski said that allowing Russia to complete construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was a bad decision that would harm European security.”

I didn’t know that some Poles can be so stupid and be elected to such high government positions. The action speaks its self of the state of Polish butthurt mind.

51st state is reserved for Great Britain lol.

Ukraine perhaps can be something as Puerto Rico – third world colonial dominion. Now they are just like Haiti – third world territory without any rights or sovereignty.

EU needs one billion CU a day now. That will grow. NS 2 will certainly contribute but EU demand will outstrip capacity and all current pipelines will operate at full capacity and LNG will be imported. Sit back and enjoy the prosperity. Ukraine and Poland are understandably terrified of the big ape to the east but gas transit revenues will not shrink significantly. Russia will find alliance with the west in time to face its real threat to its east.

Jon

When all pipelines from Russia are operating at max capacity the income to Russia will be huge. Market forces will protect EU from over pricing. EU and Russia both win. Why do all these writers have to bash Ukraine. And Poland. They just want a better standard of living and not to live under the threat of conquest by their oversized neighbor. Celebrate the win-win. And let mother Russia prepare for the real threat, which is not bourgeois consumerism. The real threat has historic precedent and is inevitable. Look at your eyes, Ivan.

JIMI JAMES

This bloke is known to be too optimistic on cocaine, without realising the harsh reality of cias losing.
