Ukraine Targeted Russian Rear With Obsolete Missiles (Map Update)

Explosion in northern Crimea

The Ukrainian military attempted new attacks on the Russian territory. After the prolonged paused Ukrainian forces again used their obsolete Tochka-U missiles to strike at the Russian border regions, while the upgraded S-200 missile targeted the Crimean peninsula, which was previously targeted by the expensive Western Strom Shadow missiles.

On October 7, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that three Ukrainian Tochka-U missiles were shot down by the Russian air defence forces in the Belgorod region. The attack resulted in no damage.

On the same day, the Russian military claimed the interception of an upgraded S-200 missile which targeted Crimea. Suffering from a shortage of military equipment, Ukrainian forces have upgraded missiles for Soviet-made S-200 anti-aircraft missile systems to use them to strike ground targets.

Meanwhile, the local sources reported that explosions thundered in the northern part of the peninsula. Explosion thundered near the city of Dzhankoy. The Ukrainian military targeted the strategically important railway junction in the area but failed to reach the target. An unidentified object reportedly fell about 50 meters away from the railway. No other details of the incident were revealed.

It is still unclear if the railway was targeted by another drone, missile or if the wreckage of the intercepted S-200 missile fell in the area.

The fact that the Ukrainian military uses outdated missiles for attacks on the Russian rear areas indicates that the Ukrainian military was probably punished by its Western patrons for spending millions of dollars worth missiles supplied by NATO on senseless attacks aimed at Kiev’s political PR campaigns.
