On September 20-21, the ratio of attacking UAVs was in Russia’s favor: according to the Russian Defense Ministry, 19 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russian territory, while Ukraine reported the launch of 54 Russian UAVs of the “Geran” and “Gerbera” types, of which 33 were shot down.
The main Ukrainian UAV strike targeted Crimea, where Russian air defense forces shot down 12 drones and another 4 over the Black Sea waters, in addition to the use of “Neptune” anti-ship missiles. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (GUR MOU) stated that the “Prymary” special forces unit conducted an operation that damaged three Mi-8 multipurpose helicopters and the 55Zh6U “Nebo-U” radar station—a high-tech meter-wave radar capable of detecting targets at distances of up to 600 km and altitudes of up to 80 km. Photos of the damaged radar station and one of the destroyed helicopters were presented as confirmation of the operation’s success.
The attacks were carried out using kamikaze drones and combined tactics, including the use of FPV-type drones, analogues of “Lancets,” and “Neptune” missiles, indicating targeted efforts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to weaken the Russian air defense system in the northwestern part of Crimea. These actions are assessed to be potentially related to preparations for possible sabotage or landing operations on the peninsula. Russian sources note the growing activity of Ukrainian forces in this direction and the need to strengthen countermeasures, including the deployment of additional electronic warfare (EW) assets and mobile fire groups.
Furthermore, the use of long-range underwater vehicles is mentioned as part of the development of Ukraine’s sabotage capabilities, adding a new dimension to the threats in the region.
At the same time, reports indicate that the UAV strike also caused civilian casualties and damage across the peninsula. Around 15 people were injured, with fatalities confirmed though their number is still being clarified. According to local sources, several facilities of the Foros sanatorium, the Terletsky boarding house, and a school building in one of the settlements sustained damage. Falling debris from intercepted drones also sparked fires in dry grass near Yalta.
Strikes on Ukraine
Russian strikes targeted several regions of Ukraine using various means of destruction:
-
Poltava Region: A repair base with developed railway infrastructure and hangars was hit in the suburbs of Poltava. A strike was also carried out near an airbase where the presence of F-16 fighters had previously been noted. Authorities confirmed hits on infrastructure facilities in the Myrhorod and Poltava districts.
-
Chernihiv Region: Strikes affected an oil depot in Bakhmach and facilities in Chernihiv. In Nizhyn, a serious fire broke out at an infrastructure facility, and during its liquidation, a follow-up strike occurred, wounding two rescue workers. Reports also indicate the destruction of Ukrainian Armed Forces training camps and a locomotive in Chernihiv.
-
Dnipropetrovsk Region: Hits were recorded on the “Ahrosoiuz-Kyiv” enterprise, causing a large-scale fire. Air defense systems, railway logistics, and sites with military equipment were damaged. At a station in Pavlohrad, a locomotive was damaged by a kamikaze drone strike.
-
Sumy Region: An attack on warehouse premises led to a major fire, which was quickly extinguished. No casualties were reported.
Strikes on Russia
Ukrainian strikes affected border regions and infrastructure facilities:
-
Belgorod Region: One civilian was killed, and four were wounded as a result of drone attacks. The governor noted difficulties in intercepting drones at the border due to their flight altitude.
-
Zaporizhzhia Region: A strike on an apartment building in Vasylivka wounded 12 people, including a one-year-old child. Three are in serious condition.
-
LPR: In Rubizhne, a 12-year-old teenager was wounded during an attack on residential buildings. In Pervomaisk, a strike on a gas station caused a fire in a propane tank, killing two people and destroying cars.
-
Kherson Region: An FPV drone attacked a civilian vehicle, wounding three elderly people.
Ukrainian sources report that yesterday’s attack (September 20) damaged not only oil refineries in Samara and Saratov regions but also two oil pumping stations of the “Kuibyshev–Tikhoretsk” pipeline, as well as the “Samara” linear production dispatch station (where oil is blended to create the Urals export blend).
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported that the “Dome of Donbas” system prevented 623 attacks on the DPR over the week, including the destruction of 430 drones over Donetsk and Makiivka and 193 over Horlivka. The electronic warfare system suppressed UAVs targeting a railway junction in Donetsk.
The mutual strikes on September 20-21 demonstrate the ongoing intensity of the conflict, with an emphasis on the use of drones and attacks on infrastructure. Russian drones, such as the “Geran-2,” continue to be improved: according to sources, they have gained the capability for dynamic target point adjustment, enhancing their effectiveness against moving targets. The use of “mother drones” and fiber-optic FPV systems, extending the operational range to 32-60 km, creates challenges for enemy logistics. The Ukrainian side complains about a shortage of air defense resources and growing difficulties in protecting critical infrastructure. Both sides continue to adapt their tactics, highlighting the technological aspect of modern conflict.
the united states seems to be losing every conflict it engages in, including the war on poverty (targeting poor people) and the war on drugs (primarily affecting black communities). the outcome of the technological war with china also appears bleak. perhaps the u.s. should focus less on producing so many retarded bozos who spread nonsensical ideas, even in these commentaries. while easier to manage, this approach is not beneficial when intelligence is the key resource of the 21st century.
“u.s. should focus less on producing so many retarded bozos who spread nonsensical ideas, even in these commentaries. while easier to manage, this approach is not beneficial when intelligence is the key resource of the 21st century.’… they will not do any of those most logical things you spoke to, because they are controlled/blackmailed by their ashkenazi overlords…
…you see?… they would rather collectively die and take their own with them under the roof of a detonated russian rsm-56 “mushroom cloud”, than loose their place at the front of the line as the “world re$erve currency”… somebody within their .gov needs to tell them that it’s over before they end up committing suicide.
ukrainian defense intelligence ? i suggest the word intelligent is useless if ukraine uses it . meanwhile trumps wants the eu to cease using baltic supplied natural gas. the pirates will control and supply all the eu energy by deception
