On November 28, the Russian military developed its operations in Siversk and Krasny Liman in Donetsk as Ukrainian defenses around both key cities began to crack.
In Siversk, the Yug [South] Group of Forces is reported to be in control of most of the city’s eastern part. Fierce clashes are reported taking part in the center of the city, mainly, along the railway.
To the south of the city, Russian troops have launched a new offensive from Zvanivka, which was captured just a few days earlier, towards Sviato-Pokrovske. A large area to the east of the settlement has been captured. The troops will likely storm the settlement from this direction very soon.
Sviato-Pokrovske is located right on the last route leading to Siversk. Thus, capturing the settlement could seal the fate of the city.
The route in question is already under the fire control of Russian drone units. Once the settlement is captured, it will be physically cut.
Meanwhile to the north of Siversk, the Yugs Group of Forces is reported to be expanding its control around Platonivka, mainly across the Siverskyi Donets River to the north. Russian troops advancing to the west of the settlement are yet to cut the route linking Siversk with the Krasny Liman, however. It’s worth noting here that the route is already cut further to the north near Yampil.
Kiev forces in Krasny Liman are facing a similar difficult situation. To the south of the city, the Zapad [West] Group of Forces has already stormed Dibrova. In the city itself, specifically in its southeastern part, Russian troops are close to clearing the Kommunalnyi district.
The Zapad Group of Forces has also expanded its control to the west of Zarichne, moving closer to the eastern outskirts of Krasny Liman.
To the north of the city, a new offensive by the Zapad Group of Forces is taking shape. Russian troops are said to be advancing between Yarova and Oleksandrivka. The main goal is likely Sosnove. The capture of the settlement would cut the route leading to Krasny Liman from the north.
All in all, Ukrainian defenses appear to be cracking around both Siversk and Krasny Liman. Any further pressure by the Russian military and the defenses will likely begin to collapse. There is a strong possibility that Siversk will be captured before the end of the year. Kiev forces could hold up in Krasny Liman, which is much larger, for a little more.
