The morning of August 26 was marked by a new wave of massive strikes by Ukrainian and Russian militaries in each other’s strategic rear. the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched dozens of drones in an attempt to reach Russian rear military facilities, while Russian strategic bombers took off and are launching precisions strikes throughout Ukraine.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, twenty Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed by Russian air defense forces during the past night. Nine UAVs were shot down over the Saratov region, three more were destroyed over the Kursk region, two UAVs were intercepted in the Belgorod, two more in Bryansk and two in Tula regions, two UAVs were destroyed in the Orel and Ryazan regions.
The drone attack failed. According to preliminary reports, Ukrainian UAVs failed to reach any military targets but they caused damage to civilian infrastructure. Two Ukrainian drones struck two high-rise apartment buildings in the cities of Engels and Saratov in the Saratov region. The governor of the region confirmed the attack. As a result of the strikes, at least four civilians were wounded.
The Ukrainian military likely targeted the military airfield of the Russian strategic in the city of Engels but failed to reach the target. Ukrainian forces likely tried to intercepted Russian aircraft, which took off to launch strikes in the Ukrainian rear regions. Unable to attack Russian strategic rear military facilities, Ukrainian Nazis switch to terror, trying to cause at least some damage to the Russian population.
The Russian military is already striking back. According to monitoring sources, at least eleven TU-95MS, six TU-22M3 and MIG-31K aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces are currently in air, launching missile strikes on Ukraine. There are four carriers of Kalibr missiles operating in the Black Sea. Russian Kamikaze UAVs are circling across Ukraine. The massive combined attack is ongoing. Strikes have already been reported in about a dozen Ukrainian cities.
