Russia and Ukraine continue exchanging strikes on each other’s rear infrastructure. Ukrainian drones again targeted oil refineries in the Western Russian regions. Russian drones and missiles pounded Ukrainian military positions, logistics hubs and infrastructure facilities across the country.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Russian air defense intercepted and destroyed 49 Ukrainian UAVs in seven rear regions. Most of the drones (25 UAVs) targeted the Rostov region, where they were shot down in different areas and inflicted no significant damage.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, eight Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed in the Volgograd region. The local governor reported that “the wreckage of intercepted UAV fell on the territory of an oil refinery”. As a result of fire, which was promptly eliminated, a civilian was wounded and taken to a hospital.

Local reports suggest that the target of the strike could be the local Volgograd Refinery (Volgogradneftepererabotka) operated by Russian Lukoil company. Its facilities with a capacity of 14.8 million tons/year have been subjected to several attacks since the beginning of the Russian Special Military Operation. On February 3, 2024, drone strikes caused fire on its ELOU-AVT-5 primary oil refining unit. The plant’s operations resumed in a short time. Another attack followed on May 12. It was repelled, but wreckage caused fire on the territory and it was promptly eliminated. Probably, today’s attack also resulted in no significant damaged.

The Russian military also officially reported the interception of four more Ukrainian drones in the rear Yaroslavl region. The local governor confirmed the destruction of enemy drones on their way to the capital of the region. The locals supposed that the target of the strikes was the local Yaroslavl Refinery (Yaroslavnefteorgsintez). The attack was repelled and no damage was confirmed in the region.

Other Ukrainian drones targeted the border Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh regions and Krasnodar Territory. No heavy damage was confirmed in the areas.

The puppet Kyiv regimes is fulfilling the will of warmongers in Washington and continues attempts to inflict maximum damage to Russian pumplines, oil refineries and other related facilities. The goal is to thwart any possible supplies of Russian resources to the European countries. For example, on January 30th, Ukrainian drones reportedly attacked the oil pumping station of the Druzhba pipeline in the Bryansk region. LINK

The Russian military responds with constant precision strikes on Ukrainian rear infrastructure. Russian forces are pounding the Armed Forces of Ukraine with drones, missiles, MLRS, heavy bombs all days long in the Donbass, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporozhie, Kherson, Kharkiv regions. Russian strikes were also recorded deeper in Ukrainian rear, including:

  • in the town of Brovary and other areas in the Kyiv region,
  • Zhitomir,
  • Kremenchug;
  • Chernihiv;
  • Cherkassy;
  • Dnipro;
  • Poltava;
  • Chernomorsk and Belgorod-Dnistrovsky and other settlements in the Odessa region;
  • Svitlovodsk in the Kirovograd region;
  • Starokonstantinov in the Khmelnitsk region.

The southern region of Odessa came under Russian attack for the fourth night in a row. Local sources confirmed heavy damage to local logistics infrastructure. As a result of massive drone strikes, a large logistics hub of military supplies from Europe was destroyed in Chernomorsk. Military trucks with cargo, fuel depots and warehouses were destroyed. The local power station Chernomorsk-110/10 was also put out of service.

Another target of Russian strikes in the Odessa region was the village of Lebedevka. The headquarters of the units responsible for the patrol of the sea cost areas was destroyed. The local Fortress hotel used for temporary accommodation of military personnel and military equipment was also destroyed.

More military warehouses were destroyed in Kopyliv in the Kyiv region. The Ukrainian military tried to hide ammunition, weapons and military equipment in civilian depots but they were destroyed by Russian precision strikes.

The Ukrainian military complained to the steady increase in the number of drones used by Russian forces to strike deep into the territory of Ukraine, especially since September 2024. The daily number of launched drones often exceeds 100 or more units per day. Despite efforts of the depleted Ukrainian air defense, many of them reach their target in daily strikes, causing heavy damage to the Ukrainian military, industrial and energy infrastructures.

In addition to their growing number, Russian long-range kamikaze drones are upgraded. The combat load was increased, the engine and overall aerodynamics were improved. After one of the recent massive strikes, the Ukrainian military discovered an upgraded warhead of the Geran-2 kamikaze drone, almost twice as heavy as the standard one. Reportedly up to 90 kg.

The massive use of upgraded UAVs and decoys in precision strikes allowed the Russian to replenish stocks of cruise, ballistic and hypersonic missiles. Western sources confirm that the production of missiles of all types is steadily growing in Russia. Large number of accumulated missiles will be needed if Kyiv refuses negotiations and provokes another round of escalation.
