Russian fighters in Belogorovka
Fierce fighting is ongoing in the village of Belogorovka, located on the highway Bakhmut — Lisichansk in the Donetsk People’s Republic (not to be confused with the village of the same name in the Luhansk People’s Republic).
The village of Belogorovka has been turned into a large fortified stronghold of the Ukrainian military. Units of the Russian-led forces attempted to storm Belogorovka in the summer, but their operations ended in failure.
After the fighters of the Wagner Group have recently expended the area of their responsibility, the military operations of the Russian military in the area succeeded. Currently, Wagner units are fighting on the front lines between Nikolaevka-2 and Lisichansk.
Russian fighters in Belogorovka
On November 8, the first reports claimed that the Russian assault groups entered the village. Their advance is slowed down by the heavily fortified strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, minefields and engineering barriers. However, the Wagner fighters continue to advance deep into the village from the southern outskirts. According to some sources, they are supported by the 14th and 16th territorial defense battalions of the LPR People’s Militia. Other sources deny these reports, claiming that there are anly Wagner units in the village.
Fierce battle for the control of the village is ongoing, and the surrounding areas are being moped up by Russian forces. On November 13, the AFU were reportedly forced to partially retreat to reserve positions, waiting for reinforcements.
Taking control of Belogorovka will allow the Russian military to eliminate a large stronghold in the deeply echeloned defense of the AFU in the Bakhmut region. A breakthrough will allow Russian-led forces to advance further to Veseloye and partially surround the Ukrainian grouping in Yakovlevka. Russian advance will allow to straighten the front and take control of the section of the Bakhmut — Lisichansk highway.
