Ukrainian Forces Resumed Offensive South Of Bakhmut, Entered Klescheevka (18+)

After the Armed Forces of Ukraine regrouped forces in the area south oof Artemovsk (Bakhmut), they resumed offensive operations in the area of Klesheevka, Kurdymovka and Andreevka.

According to the recent reports from the front, the situation remains tense on the southern flank of Artemovsk. Ukrainian groups have recently managed to enter Klescheevka. After several attempts to gain a foothold there, Ukrainian forces reportedly partially took control of the road going through the village and the western outskirts of the settlement.

With the support of artillery, using mainly cluster munitions, Ukrainian groups on infantry fighting vehicles attempt to advance in the ruins of Klescheevka. Amid the fierce resistance of the Russian military, the AFU does not retreat from the settlement, fighting for every destroyed building in the village. The Ukrainian advance is also slowed down by heavy losses in manpower and equipment but the Ukrainian military continues sending reinforcements to the meat grinder.

However, the AFU avoid offensive operations with large forces, since such attempts end with strikes by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation at the places of accumulation.

Up to 7 brigades of the AFU have been reportedly identified in the area of Klescheevka. The Ukrainian military continue the accumulation of equipment and manpower in the area. They are expected to attack the village with larger forces from several directions before the rainy weather comes to the region.

The Russian military officials claimed that the units of the Southern grouping of troops, in cooperation with aviation and artillery, repelled 4 attacks by the assault groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of Kleshcheyevka and Veseloye.

During the day, the AFU losses amounted to up to 225 militants killed and wounded, two armored combat vehicles, 9 vehicles, the M777 artillery system (USA) and the Grad MLRS were also destroyed.

At the same time, the AFU attempt attacks on the Russian strongholds in Andreevka and Kurdymovka located to the south of Klescheevka. On September 5, a group of Ukrainian servicemen on an infantry fighting vehicle was scattered by Russian fire near Andreevka. In case of success in Klescheevka, the AFU should straighten the front in order to secure their southern flank.

The control of Klescheevka and the villages nearby is necessary for the AFU willing to attack the city of Artemovsk from the southern direction, since the AFU failed to at least partially encircle the city during the months of prolonged battles. At the same time, the AFU are reinforcing their grouping in Krasnoe (Ivanovskoe) likely preparing for a possible attack on Artemovsk from the eastern direction.
