In February 2024, the former Defense Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu reported to the President that the Russian military destroyed Ukrainian stronghold on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region and took control of the village of Krynki. The battles in Krynki began last year after Ukrainian counteroffensive in the Zaporozhie region failed.
