On July 6th, the commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Rear Admiral Alexei Neizhpapa vowed that the Ukrainian fleet would return to Sevastopol, Crimea.
“The main base of the Naval forces of Ukraine is Sevastopol. I will never give up this idea, principle and message. There I served my whole ship life. We will be back,” Neizhpapa said.
According to him, many Ukrainian officers in Crimea left their property and relatives, but the Admiral said that he did not intend to visit the “occupied” peninsula:
“I categorically reject this – I will go to Crimea only when our blue-yellow flag is there. That’s it. Full Stop.”
Earlier Neizhpapa said that the ships of the Ukrainian Navy are preparing for full-scale hostilities with Russia.
According to him, Kiev expects an attack by the Russian army in the Kherson region in order to let the Dnieper water into Crimea.
“Our units are preparing for such actions. I can’t disclose all the plans, but here’s a small fact: the range of the Neptune missile system allows you to use it from mainland Ukraine on the approaches to Sevastopol,” Neizhpapa said.
At the same time, the fleet command realizes that a full-scale military confrontation between the two countries will lead to large losses.
“Perhaps there will be many losses – both of our fighters, and even of the civilian population,” the Rear Admiral explained.
At the end of June, the head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov said that the authorities of the peninsula would not beg Volodymyr Zelensky to resume the flow of water from the mainland.
The Kremlin referred to Neizhpapa’s words as stupid, and an attempt to artificially stoke tensions and anti-Russian hysteria in Ukraine.
On June 11th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Igor Voronchenko from the post of commander of the Ukrainian Navy and appointed Alexey Neizhpapa.
Any opposition against Russia in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov will be primarily carried out via US-made boats.
Thanks to the supply of American Mark VI boats, Ukraine will reportedly be able to limit Russia’s freedom of action in the Sea of Azov, Rear Admiral Aleksey Neizhpapa, commander of the Ukrainian fleet, said.
“The Sea of Azov is not a puddle of the Russian Federation. If they think that they will behave as they are used to, they will not succeed. Already this year we will increase the number of units in the Sea of Azov. We must get the most modern boats from the USA Mark VI – 16 units. Naturally, some of them will certainly be in the Sea of Azov. With missile systems on board – more effective for this region,” said Neizhpapa.
American Mark VI patrol boats will be sent to the Sea of Azov to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Ukraine will be the first country in the world to receive these boats from the United States. They are expected to be delivered soon.
“The United States planned to have them only for themselves and, except for Ukraine they have not offered them to anyone. This happened because we have developed a strategy and set goals – how to gradually develop Ukrainian Navy,” Neizhpapa said.

However i totally agree with the Crimea re-unification (not annexation) Crimea was autonomous. Since they are Autonomous AND the elected leader that THEY (Crimean’s) with a massive majority voted in yet was removed by force, they can decide what they want!
