Russia has 200,000 troops in Ukraine who assist the 30-50,000 LPR/DPR troops who are doing most of the fighting in the Donbass areas. The Russians are mostly holding the lines to the north and the south plus their artillery and other units support the local militias and forces. The Russians rotate every couple of weeks resting away from the frontlines. Wasn’t it the Chechenia’s that did the bulk of the fighting for Sieverdonetsk and Lysychansk and now mostly at Bakmut.

The Ukrainians took more territory in one week (3400 square miles), than the Russians in 5 months (2000 square miles).
Russia is obviously struggling hard in Ukraine. The only strategy Putin has is to avoid mobilization at all costs. Mobilization would mean the admission of defeat of his strategy.

The Russian military has proven itself inept when it comes to Ukraine. They can not even defeat the electrical grid in Ukraine. They do not intend to fight and you saw it yesterday. I have watched numerous videos but the most telling is the fact that hundreds of UAF troops and tanks and trucks openly use highways and roads with no fear of Russian attacks. Neither from grad or air craft. Russia does not posses the military abilities that many have seen and if they do they do not know how to use them.
Russia continues to pay Ukraine for gas transit and help Ukraine export grain and sells energy to Germany all of which results in dead Russian troops. Russian troops see this and know it as well.
They had all the time 8 months to train another 100k troops or 200k they have forces in the far east and guys playing army games on TV while their actual forces run and leave their tanks behind. With absolutely no air force at all. Its pretty sad. They will need to bring in many more men and learn to use their aircraft.

Is it a good idea that Russia voluntarily gave up all the remaining areas of Kharkov region, including the border area under it’s control back to Ukrainians? I think that may have been a very hasty decision.
I think ours deliberately left these territories, which is why Ukraine will immediately occupy these territories, of course. People were taken out, and this territory will turn into a battlefield, where they will exterminate opponents without saving civilians. And then they will move on with lightning speed without resistance. So other areas will remain intact without destruction. Tactics “Surrender the fight to win the battle!” This is my personal opinion.
