As the Ukraine war continues not only on the battlefields but also online and in the media, the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are forced to appeal to their military command through the videos shared on the social networks. So far, dozens of appeals of the Ukrainian servicemen deployed in various regions in eastern Ukraine refused to obey to their commanders and implement their orders. The Ukrainian fighters understand that the military command in Kiev uses the soldiers as cannon fodders in the most dangerous regions of the country. The Ukrainian units suffer the lack of manpower and military supplies. A lot of them were left by their military command.
Earlier, on May 24, one of the battalions of the Donetsk People’s Republic deployed on the front lines in the Luhansk People’s Republic recorded a similar video addressing their high command. This was the first such video recorded by Russian-led forces, which did not raise any suspicions. At the same time, the appeals of the DPR and Ukrainian servicemen differ. “We, the active servicemen of the 13th Motorized Infantry Regiment (58th brigade of the 13th battalion), appeal to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a request not to use us as cannon fodder and take us to a safe zone for resupply with equipment, weapons and people, because at the moment we cannot fulfill the tasks assigned to us. Also, in the light of recent events, the personnel need physical, moral and psychological recovery in order to fulfill the tasks assigned to us to hundred-per-cent.
We are appealing to you because our command does not hear us and ignores all our requests, setting subsequent tasks that we cannot perform.
Commander-in-Chief, we do not refuse to defend our homeland and fulfill our direct obligations as military personnel who took the oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine and the independence of our country. We hope for your help and understanding.
Commander-in-Chief, the leadership of the 58th brigade came to us today, and they already want to take our people by three or four men and put them in prison, as they say.
Today is May 22, we don’t want to be cannon fodder. We want to defend our country, but we are not given such an opportunity. We are being sent without any training to the battlefield. As you can see on this appeal, there are a lot of military personnel among us. Before the mobilization, some of them had never held a weapon in their hands, let alone any training. This video shows that these servicemen do not even have any means of personal protection. We are running out of food, drinking water. They are constantly trying to bury us, and so far they have succeeded. We hope for your understanding and ask for your help.”
So far, thousands of the Ukrainian servicemen have been detained in Ukraine after they refused to go to death on the eastern front lines. For example, the fighters of the 115th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who refused to carry out inadequate orders and go to certain death are now in a pre-trial detention center:
