More than three months into the counteroffensive, Ukrainian troops are sustaining heavy losses and showing low morale in the Zaporozhye direction.
A video of a recent successful Russian assault near Novoprokopovka, which surfaced online on September 28, exposed the bad status of Ukrainian troops.
The footage shows a single Russian soldier killing two Ukrainian soldiers, prompting the rest of their poorly trained unit to withdraw in an unorganized manner. While doing so, the Ukrainian unit was targeted with heavy machine gun fire. Most of the unit’s members were killed or wounded with the rest running away leaving them behind.
On the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense released footage showing a number of Ukrainian soldiers surrendering in Zaporozhye.
The ministry said that the soldiers surrendered after realizing that the capabilities of weapons provided by Kiev’s backers in the West were exaggerated, noting that thousands of Ukrainian troops were killed in this direction in recent battles.
Despite sustaining heavy human and material losses for more than three months, Kiev forces are yet to break through Russian defenses in Zaporozhye or any other direction. This is leading to low morale and desperation among Ukrainian troops.
In an attempt to deflect from reality, the Kiev regime stepped up drone and missile attacks on Russian territory in recent weeks.
Two Ukrainina suicide drones were shot down over the Russian region of Bryansk on the morning September 28 alone, according to the Russian MoD. The failed drone attack didn’t result in any casualties or material losses, like most recent ones.
The Ukrainian counteroffensive appears to be a complete failure. Worsening weather conditions could soon force Kiev to halt most, if not all, offensive operations. This will be a major blow to the regime and its backers, who were planning to “defeat” the Russian military before winter.
