The UN’s inefficiency in preventing crimes against humanity is making its own officials’ patience run out. Recently, the director of the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) resigned from his position, claiming to be dissatisfied with the UN’s current role in the Israel-Palestine conflict. This shows very clearly how the organization urgently needs to adapt to a multipolar reality if it wants to survive current geopolitical changes.
Craig Mokhiber announced his decision to resign on October 31st. He wrote a letter of resignation expressing his outrage at the current situation of the UN, which he believes has “surrendered” to the US. According to him, the Zionist “lobby” managed to institutionally control both US internal policy and the UN itself, preventing measures from being taken against the genocide carried out by Israel in Palestine.
“Once again, we are seeing a genocide unfolding before our eyes, and the Organization that we serve appears powerless to stop it (…) In recent decades, key parts of the UN have surrendered to the power of the US and to the fear of the Israel Lobby, to abandon these principles, and to retreat from international law itself. We have lost a lot in this abandonment, not least our own global credibility. But the Palestinian people have sustained the biggest losses as a result of our failures”, he said.
Mokhiber considers Zionism to be a colonialist, racist and expansionist ideology, which expresses continuity of European imperialism. He sees the policy of creating illegal settlements as a colonial project to massacre the native people and give Israel cumulative territorial control. Mokhiber also strongly denounces the role of the US, UK and European countries in this Israeli policy and emphasizes how the Western media is acting with complicity in this process of genocide and ethnic cleansing.
“But the current wholesale slaughter of the Palestinian people, rooted in an ethno-nationalist settler colonial ideology … leaves no room for doubt or debate (…) This is a text-book case of genocide. The European, ethno-nationalist, settler colonial project in Palestine has entered its final phase, toward the expedited destruction of the last remnants of indigenous Palestinian life in Palestine (…) [The US, UK and] much of Europe are wholly complicit in the horrific assault [by] actively arming the assault, providing economic and intelligence support, and giving political and diplomatic cover for Israel’s atrocities (…) Western corporate media, increasingly captured and state-adjacent, [has been] continuously dehumanizing Palestinians to facilitate the genocide, and broadcasting propaganda for war and advocacy of national, racial, or religious hatred”, he added.
It is curious to note how Mokhiber’s criticisms corroborate what has been reported for a long time by officials from countries considered enemies by the West. The UN is in fact becoming incapable of solving contemporary global problems. By remaining associated with a Western unipolar reality, the organization is unable to appropriately deal with new global issues, which places it in serious existential danger.
A recent example of UN’s inability was the way the organization dealt with the crisis in Ukraine. Even with so much evidence of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the people of Donbass, no measures were implemented to dissuade the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev, leaving Russia the only option to launch a special military operation. In the same sense, after the operation began, the UN was unable to reach a consensus on the need to avoid prolonging the conflict, remaining inert while NATO sent weapons to the regime, turning local hostilities into a large-scale war.
Now, the same problem occurs: a process of genocide and military conflict is expanding in a devastating way and the UN is unable to prevent the situation from worsening. Proposed resolutions that could prevent the carnage and create a diplomatic dialogue, such as the one proposed by Russia calling for a ceasefire, were promptly rejected by Western powers in the Security Council. This prevented any form of diplomatic resolution and gave Tel Aviv carte blanche to continue committing crimes against the Palestinian people under the excuse of “fighting Hamas”.
The UN really seems to be a hostage of Western interests. In practice, to “please” the Western and Zionist elites, the UN remains passive in the face of a massacre and a conflict that can quickly escalate to a global level – since the US and Iran can openly engage at any time, which would make the tensions get out of control. With this, the UN appears to be heading towards the same end as its predecessor, the League of Nations, which was established after WWI with the aim of preventing a new similar conflict, having failed to thwart the WWII.
To avoid this tragic fate, there is only one path for the UN: a deep reform, which adapts it to the multipolar geopolitical reality and creates efficient mechanisms to prevent conflicts and crimes against humanity.

with zionist/globalist control of the usa and western europe all of their economic and military resources will be used in wars for zionism which once in place will turn them into zionist slaves if they survive.
reminiscent of uk’s ‘labour’ (sic) party. taken over by neo-libs, it hasn’t represented ‘workers’ or ’causes’ since at best 1994, probably earlier. now headed by a bought and sold zionist, it expels members who stands up for palastine (inc the former leader). like un member countries, no labour mp has the guts to leave their rancid party (before expulsion) to form a new representative one.
too many countries kowtow to the un, despite knowing it’s uncle sam’s pet poodle.
un was created by the ziomafia parasites to control the world. the us are occupied territory and act in the interest of their masters in israel.
it takes two to tango. the us has always been a state that existed to enrich grifting tax-cheats while destroying or subjugating anyone who stood in the way of that enrichment. the jewish supremacists understand this, and use the absurd tenets of liberalism and capitalism to leverage the mass of capitalism against itself. you want a system predicated on the exploitation of one group by another through capital accumulation, then the system is fair game to whoever can steer it.
the us will gladly replace him with one of their cheerleaders from some vasal country.
the united nations is entirely ineffective in large part due to the fact that nobody in their right mind wants a foreign and unelected lobby to have sovereign power to meddle in the affairs of nations.
