United States And Russia Agreed To Prolong New START Nuclear Weapons Treaty For 5 Years

ILLUSTRATIVE IMAGE

On January 26, the United States and Russia agreed on prolonging the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (known as New START), according to a summary of the call between Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin published on the Kremlin’s website.

The US and Russian leaders expressed their satisfaction with the progress made, it reported.

Russian media also reported that Putin submitted an agreement to prolong the treaty to the Parliament for ratification. The agreement is set to be extended until February 5, 2026.

New START obliges Russia and the US to reduce the number of their strategic nuclear missile launchers by a half is set to expire in February 2021. Earlier, the United States demonstrated an unwillingness to prolong the agreement without preconditions i.e. concessions by the Russian side. This put the treaty in danger. Nonetheless, now it seems that the US posture has shifted toward a more constructive position.

According to reports, in the coming days, Washington and Moscow will to complete all the procedures needed to ensure New START will remain in force.

“They won’t even have time to repent”.

As if they could, they sold their souls a long time ago. Amazing how the aggressors never built a dead hand, as if they knew the Russians wouldn’t start Armageddon.

John Wallace

Many years ago after the fall of the wall I read a book of the Cold War Espionage and such. In it was a chapter on a Senior CIA man on holiday fishing on a lake in a little boat. With time on his hands he was looking around and he saw a big sign that said ” Caution buried cables” He thought about this and wondered if perhaps in Russia they did the same. The HQ for the Submarine Fleet was on an Island and the US could never intercept communications from this HQ. So he asked that someone should scan the land on the mainland . Sure enough a sign in Russian said ” Beware Buried Cables ” that was directly in line with the island. The US sent in a submarine and underwater operators discovered the cable and plugged a listening device into the cable. They were then able to listen into communications from the Island HQ to the mainland. Over time the Russians had become sloppy believing their lines were secure their codes were weak or hardly used. Thus the US was able to read the Russian Submarine Fleet traffic. Now this is where it gets interesting. The US where going to have war games and with protocols informed Russia. Part of the war games was a mock attack on Russia so they were interested to see where the Russian subs were going to be deployed thinking they would be sent along the coastline of the US to retaliate. Instead all subs were ordered back to their bases. From this the US knew that Russia were not interested in going to war but for years the US pumped up the notion of the need to build more weapons as Russia was on the path to attack.

fake

John Wallace

What is FAKE#… You think I just made up this story or the story was fake. What knowledge do YOU have to say it is fake. Or is your comment FAKE..

John Tosh

fake news……

John Wallace

As others have pointed out you are the one that is fake. Apparently it was called Operation Ivy Bells which I have now read but is a basic coverage of that event , not the full version that I read .. You also say the Russians recovered the device so how can they recover something that didn’t happen. So it is not fake at is it.

John Wallace

Here is a teaser for your FAKE comment.. ”

In the early 1970s the U.S. government learned of the existence of an undersea communications cable in the Sea of Okhotsk, which connected the major Soviet Pacific Fleet naval base at Petropavlovsk on the Kamchatka Peninsula to the Soviet Pacific Fleet’s mainland headquarters at Vladivostok” I have already told you the rest so , so much for your FAKE !!! . Pulled that out of your arse …

rightiswrong rightiswrong

Operation Ivy Bells was the code name for that operation John. The operation was given up by a US intelligence analyst called Ronald Pelton. The US company AT&T developed and built a special listening device which wrapped around the cables, and could disentangle if the cables were brought up for repair. The Soviets recovered the device, and no doubt applied the technology to NATO and other foreign states underwater cables. Nowadays, it’s the US and Britain who cry wolf about Russians listening in to undersea cables, being the total cry baby hypocrites they are.

John Wallace

Thanks for finding that . Yes I have found that and a basic coverage of what I read in a book so hardly fake.. Thanks.

John Tosh

fake

rightiswrong rightiswrong

Operation Ivy Bells, you muppet.

John Tosh

fake… 1971……the soviets retrieved the device

rightiswrong rightiswrong

Yes Operation Ivy Bells ended after the Soviets retrieved the listening device.

So what’s fake about that, or is it just that your vocabulary doesn’t contain anything other than what your shift manager tells you to post?

John Tosh

fake news!

John Wallace

Long after the Americans placed it there and gained massive intelligence from it. So what is fake about that event happening. A little convoluted there..

John Tosh

Not News…. its like talking about how the Manhattan project was practically handed over to Russia!

John Wallace

Excuse me but this was in reply to a comment by rightiswrong and you jumped in with your fake news bullshit and end up with no relevance to the original comment. Way of track and of no point .

Jens Holm

The problem is that several other countries dont do as USA and Russia and the agreement then partly is irrelevant.

“Others” has to be stopped or declined too. But its – as written – a restart.

John Wallace

Russia and USA have 90% of the worlds nuclear weapons. The next biggest are UK , France and China so again you are just talking horseshit. China 290 , France 280 , UK 180 out of a total of 13890. All the others combined make roughly the 890 while US / Russia have decreased theirs to 13,000 .

rightiswrong rightiswrong

It’s a lovely day when I don’t have to see the comments of Jens the Illiterate.

Life is hard enough without trying to decipher what that child abuser has to post. lol

John Wallace

Mostly I don’t even bother reading as it is the rantings of a deranged mind. At times his comments are reasonably well written and make some sense so are their two Jens , or even 3 or does it depend on how much drugs have been inflicted upon his brain. Who knows , who cares , it is easier just to pass over his comments. He writes continuously on multiple sites so maybe he is a robot and the batteries run down causing gibberish.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

His postings make no sense, many of us have told him to change the batteries of his translator, and he comes back with even heavier gibberish. It’s painful to see the English language being practised so poorly, so I just block him, easier on the eyes. lol

Fog of War

How will Russia verify any of this when the ZioAmericans have already pulled out of the ” open skies ” treaty ?

Ivan Freely

Satellites?

HiaNd

there is a already well established mechanism of verification, that has functioned well over the decades, spying help also.

rightiswrong rightiswrong

A lot easier than NATO will be able to, lol. Bidet will probably reopen that conduit again, after all, Russia has way more territory to hide gear than NATO.

Fog of War

So does mainland US.

HB_Norica

Inspection teams on the ground. Open skies was for discovering shit that wasn’t in arms agreements.

Lone Ranger

Making treaties with satanic pedo retards is futile. They will violate it whenever they seem the need of it. Russia should just arm to the teeth. Si vis pacem parabellum…

John Wallace

Yes . Any agreement of any kind made with the US is written on toilet paper. They will flush it any time they like.

HiaNd

This just stops ICBM-SLBM nuke arms race, nothing else.(that is more in US interest since their ICBM’s are very old) Russia is already in clear advantage. Once “Sarmat” replaces “Satan” Russia will be on 100% new and upgraded strategic nukes. (This postpones only RS-26 Rubezh (train nuke) since there is no need for it) So whatever they (US) does, they can hardly, if at all change that situation.
