Unobtrusive Letters By Rockets As Means Of Political Communication In Iraq

On October 31, unknown persons fired at the headquarters of the intelligence service of Iraq in Baghdad, when it was visited by the Prime Minister of the country Mustafa Al-Qazimi. Three rockets were launched from different parts of the city in the direction of the building, but failed to achieve its goal. Victims were also avoided.

Earlier, On October 27 a very similar attack was made.

No one has claimed responsibility for these actions yet.

On October 10 the  parliamentary elections were held in Iraq. The elections decide the 329 members of the Council of Representatives who will in turn elect the Iraqi president and confirm the prime minister.  Since that time, a political crisis is very close to break out in the country, as the rivals cannot come to an agreement on who won and what number of seats in parliament they received.

One of those dissatisfied with the election results was the pro-Iranian Shiite group Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, also known as the Khazali Network. Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq funded and trained by Iran’s Quds Force. The political wing of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq is a part of Fatah Alliance.  The group insistently demands a recount of votes.

At the same time, representatives of the group note that if the procedure is performed by the same people who did it earlier, it will not be possible to achieve fair results.

The pro-Iranian forces have personal claims against mister Al-Qasimi. He was the head of the intelligence service of Iraq when the US Air Force killed legendary IRGC General Qasem Suleimani. In this regard, he was accused of involvement in the death of commander.

Thus, these demonstrative attacks are nothing more than signals that if the parties do not reach a compromise, the Shiite forces are ready to use military force against their political opponents.

Having shelled the iconic place, they also make it clear that nothing of the past events have been forgotten.
