On March 23, two planes of the Russian Aerospace Forces landed in Venezuela’s main airport carrying a Russian defense official and nearly 100 troops, according to reports in mainstream media and claims by local activists.
The planes were identified as An Ilyushin IL-62 passenger jet and an Antonov AN-124 military cargo plane. They left Moscow from Russian military airport Chkalovsky on March 22 and visited Syria en route to Venezuela.
According to speculations, the meintioned defense officials was Vasily Tonkoshkurov, chief of staff of the Ground Forces. Some material [allegedly over 35 tonnes] was also delivered.
The Russian Defense Ministry has not provided comments on this report yet. However, the Russian mainstream media says citing “own sources” that the delegation arrived in Venezuela for “bilateral consultations” over a wide range of topics, including the military and technical cooperation.

Most probable scenario, makes sense
China does some behind the scenes bankrolling in support of Maduro along with providing some low-key technological assistance. They are currently more concerned with: 1) Reunifying Taiwan within the current 5 year plan. 2) Defending North Korea and reunifying the peninsula if it comes to that. 3) Fighting off an insurgency along the Pakistani and Afghanistan borders with the eventual plan of running legs of their BRI thru the mountain passes there.
Those three things require lots of invested resources, military and otherwise. The Chinese being a generally pragmatic people aren’t looking to over-extend and expose themselves to loss at this point.
China has a $ trillion war chest of US treasuries to bring the USD Empire down. Troops to Venezuela will also come in handy, when they stop pussyfooting. Then perhaps Iran, India, Turkey and Pakistan will follow to defend Venezuela and usher in the New (Old) Multiplar World Order.

The AN 124 is a huge cargo plane and common sense tells us that it was filled with war materiel, most likely Pantsir air defenses to be used in addition to the S 300 system that the Russians had supplied to the country years ago. Recall that an AN 124 also landed here a few months ago and the naive Western journos focused their reports on the fact that the 2 Tupolevs that came with it were nuclear capable. But this was totally irrelevant. The Tupolevs were decoys. But this was exactly how the Russians knew Western journos would view it. If Russian Pantsirs are there, the country will be much less sensitive to Tomahawk attacks, just as Syria was protected from Trump’s silly little fireworks displays and Israeli missiles. The Pantsirs were the missing ingredient in Venezuelan defenses and I think they are now in place. Russia is protecting its investments.
