Up to 5,000 ISIS members and their families remain in the ISIS-held pocket near the Syrian town of Bahuz in the Euphrates Valley, according to the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Additionally to this, the US-backed group provided the following numbers to AFP:
- More than 66,000 people, mostly civilians, have quit the ISIS-held area since January 9. They include 37,000 civilians, 5,000 terrorists and around 24,000 of their relatives;
- 520 ISIS fighters have been captured in SDF operations.

The ‘civilians’ and ‘ISIS members’ captured by the SDF are being moved towards SDF-run camps in northeastern Syria. The main camp of this type is located in Al-Hol. According to reports, about 70,000 people, including ISIS-linked persons, are located there.
Even the mainstream media is forced to admit dire humanitarian condictions and a lack of security in these camps. More than 123 people, including many children, have died on the way or shortly after arriving at Al-Hol, according to the International Rescue Committee.
They are waiting for NATO-Gulf helicopters to airlift them to their next job.
haha you beat me to it, I was about to post that the CIA transport to Afghanistan and Tajikistan has not arrived yet to airlift these scumbags.
That’s why Russia should throw some farewell party https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr2t_hwWExI
so the isis is their excuse to change the demographics of the area by forcing the christians and arab syrians to leave the area. Same scenario as in idlip.
The photo looks like a wreckers yard with a couple of stacks of tires or car wrecks being burned. The rest is just busted up vehicles.I suppose ISIS could be in there somewhere.
They are all living in the cars. 20 to a car which makes it a bit rough if someone farts and you are stuck in the middle seat.
These numbers go up and down more then the New York Stock Exchange. First it was only a couple of hundred, then a thousand, now 5000? Baghuz was what? 600m2 still under ISIS control? There must be a HUGE tunnelsystem underneath them to house that many. Either that or ISIS still controls more territory.
Don’t you know, this is the Battle Of Stalingrad; milking the ‘last bastion in Syria’ for all its worth. Don’t believe any numbers from the SDF.
So – if it’s all true – these beheaders & friends & garbage bags are in harmful conditions en route to al-Hol (The Hole? – that would fit) and maybe heading into more…if not the chopper comes to bring them to new playgrounds. Time to create a chair circle and a social workshops, time to be friendly agan with the beheaders after all the torturing and killing the past 6 ys and let’s now collect money for helping them through the tough times ahead of them and to resocialise em. We should be merciful and in forgiveness-mood, shouldn’t we? Who’s first to give a dime? In reality we will never get to know what’s happening down there, may SF report this or that. Will it ever be over? Seeing the image with the junkyard of rotten vehicles so close to Euphrates, I cannot take any reports of SDF serious any more. “I woke up in the morning and got myself a beer, the future looks uncertain, and the end is always near”
The images of the SAA held territory across the Tigris, show how easily the ISIS gangs escaped into the Homs desert , I think
Is that the same pocket that SF repeatly have reported as a 600m2 area or is it another “last stronghold”?
Exactly as me and Bolton pointed out. There are still thousands of thousands of terrorists and problems in Syria, why the US troops cant leave now but have be enforced to maintain our influence and our protection of the civil population. Sorry guys.
