Since March 14, the US Air Force had deployed a total of six B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers in Europe. The B-52H Stratofortress is capable of carrying cruise missiles and avia bombs with nuclear warheads.
The six B-52H bombers are currently deployed at Royal Air Force Fairford in the southwestern part of the UK. According to media reports, this number may grow up to 10 in the coming days.
This is the most massive deployment of US strategic bombers in Europe since 2003 when the US deployed up to 20 bombers at Royal Air Force Fairford. These bombers participated in the US invasion of Iraq.

The Russian Defense Ministry says that immidiately fater the deployment in Europe, at least one B-52H bomber was spotted over the Baltics, in about 150km from the Russian border. It was detected by the Russian air defense system and then retreated.
On March 15, a new regimental set of the S-400 air defense system was deployed in Russia’s Kaliningrad Region.

The deployment of the US strategic bombers in Europe, the increase US-NATO intelligence activity along Russian borders as well as the US withdrawal from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty show that the Washington establishment is ready to turn Europe in a battleground of new nuclear war in the event of a conflict with Russia.
Earlier European diplomats and politicians, who support the US withdrawal from the INF Treaty, were claiming that this decision poses no threat to Europe because no new US nuclear weapons would be deployed. These claims appeared to be a direct lie.

I was a little irritated though to see that the bombers were deployed to the UK… don’t really consider the UK Europe (anymore). So, well, they’re kind of still on US soil.
