US-backed Forces Are About To Capture Hajin From ISIS

On December 9, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said that their fighters had pushed deeper into the ISIS-held town of Hajin in the middle Euphrates River Valley and imposed control of 35 new positions following heavy clashes.

“This axis is witnessing occasional intermittent engagements, punctuated by mortar shelling by terrorists,” the SDF media center said in its daily press release.

A day earlier, ISIS fighters stepped up their defensive operations around the strategic town and targeted several gatherings and vehicles of the US-backed group with guided missiles. 15 fighters of the SDF were reportedly killed and injured in these attacks. However, this was not enough to stop the SDF’s advance.

The US-led coalition is backing the ongoing attack on Hajin. Warplanes and attack helicopters of the coalition are reportedly targeting dozens of positions inside the town every day.

According to a recent report of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), more than 70% of Hajin is currently under the control of the SDF. ISIS will likely withdraw from the town soon in order to avoid losing its remaining assets in the Euphrates Valley.
