The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have captured the village of Moazah and advanced on ISIS positions in the village of Safaqinah in the Euphrates Valley. The SDF is currently developing its advance in an attempt to fully eliminate the remaining ISIS-held pocket in the area.

Crazy how long it can take them to get rid of ISIS there. If they would have let the Syrians do it, ISIS would have been gone 6 months ago

They won’t ever be able to get rid of them.
Yes, Daesh trash will still exist as sleeper cells. But they will be destroyed as an organized military group in Syria and Iraq. Many of those that fled will no longer be interested in Jihad, only want to disappear and not be captured I think.
I hope so as well! I wish for Syria to return to its state of stability.

Solving that pocket itself dont solve much. It has big symbolic value for all of us, even living far away.

I am more relaxed about it. Facts are Damaskus Syrians do their way very slow too.
The area has far higher concertation of fighters in a very small strip of few kilometers.
SDF uniforms are in short supply. They can’t keep their ISIS garb once they are retasked as SDF.

Off topic, sorry, but this is interesting – reports/rumours are now beginning to circulate that todays shipping incident and ship fires near the Crimea Bridge / Kerch Strait is not all it seems.
Apparently, multiple small flashes (muzzle flashes?) were seen as far away as the shore – apparently onboard (or rounds hitting?) x3 vessels in the Kerch Strait, with x2 vessels involved in this incident taking actual damage resulting in fires, possibly even deaths.
Due to distances from shore to ship, if flashes / strikes were seen this suggests at least .50cal / 12.6mm automatic weapons were used in an exchange of some description.
Report from a guy in Bulgaria (unknown source) suggests there were contractors and other specialists onboard these vessels and there was a firefight between either the groups of contractors or another group attempting to board the vessels (Russian SF?) and the contractors.
Whatever the real story, the official story holds little water and there seems to be other players in whatever game was being played here.
Unknown what nationality the contractors were, but several suggestions out there that some were British – and that these British have been ‘rescued’ (taken into custody by Russian SF units?), along with some of the crew of each vessel, some belived to be British Gov Intel, or specialist intel contractors.
Speculation is that the British intel will now likely disapear and not be heard again – explained as ‘lost / dead’ crew members. The contractors fate is anyones guess.
I thought this worth posting due to the current crazyness in that part of the world and that lately the truth has been stranger than fiction.

Must be only 33 isis fighters left, you couldn’t fit many more than that here. No only joking, it must be really hard going here, semi Urban area with lots of farms and open areas crammed with fighters and civilians alike. 5.5 km in length and 4 to 5 km wide at both ends with a 3 km span at the centre, it’s a tiny area of operations but split by a tributary of the Euphrates making it even harder for the SDF ground troops to move around, if there were no civilians here they could just carpet bomb them and clean up afterwards, but there’d be a lot of homeless people after it though, and lots of dead livestock.
