US-backed Forces Created 'Civilian Council' To Rule Raqqah After Its Liberation

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), predominantly consisting of members of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), has created a civilian council” to rule the Syrian city of Raqqah after its expected liberation from ISIS terrorists, the pro-Kurdish ARA News website repoted on April 19.

According to the report, the announcement took place after a meeting in the SDF-held town of Ain Issa located north of Raqqah.

“The civilian council of Raqqa will be charged with administering Raqqa and the surrounding province after liberation,” ARA News quoted the SDF’s statement.

Gharib Hesso, a representative of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) [YPG is a military wing of the PYD], said that the council consists of persons that had fled from Tabqa, Raqqa and other areas and came to the SDF-controlled area.

As long as this council consists of all ethnicities that were present in Raqqah before ethnic cleansing and they represent the general population, this seems reasonable to me.

One cannot rely on IS followers, islamists and antidemocrats, though they might be wise to include a few Assadists.

A free election after some time seems apropiate.

Apparently al tabqah hospital, hotel have been taken. A couple of villages in Raqqa have been taken as well.

In the end only one government: Damascus. City councils are fine as long as they know Assad is leader. Otherwise destroy them.

So You are member of the 57 silly flags and warlords of Syria. Damaskus was the systematic reason for the uprise. None will go back to that system.
