On November 8, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that it released 86 former ISIS fighters who were captured or surrendered during the battle for Raqqa. The SDF said that the former ISIS fighters who were released went through a strict investigation and stressed that none of them committed crimes during their service with ISIS.

The SDF added that the decision to release these men was taken upon a request from the Raqqa Civil Council and local tribe leaders from Raqqa. According to the SDF, the released ISIS fighters “promised not to go back to the wrong way”.

It’s not the first time the SDF releases former ISIS fighters. On August 13, the SDF released 75 Syrian ISIS fighters who were captured during the battle for Raqqa. The SDF itself confirmed on November 8 that several patches of ISIS fighters were released by it over the last few months.

According to experts, the SDF decision to release those former ISIS fighter pose a serious security threat not only to the Syrian government and opposition areas but also to the SDF-held areas, and the US troops deployed in it.

Meanwhile, the SDF and the Raqqa Civil Council announced that they have sent 14 truck, 14 bulldozer and 4 water tankers to Raqqa city to clean it up. Al-Mushalib district in the eastern part of Raqqa city will be cleaned first, according to Kurdish sources.

Back on November 6, the SDF allowed the civilians to go back to their houses in al-Mushalib district. However, so far civilians are still not allowed to return to any another part of the city, because the SDF claims its full of IEDs and mines left behind by ISIS.

We already know that drama.

TiredOfBsToo

It will be highly entertaining when all of those terrorist governed civil councils and ‘reformed’ terrorists decide to take the only land available to them from their friendly terror buddies, the SDF. Russia had the right idea, not put them in charge of ‘civil councils’, but to kill them.

dutchnational

Oh, that is why Russia supports the idea of a federated Syria? That is why Russia supports the kurds in general and PYD specifically partaking in talks on Syria?

Yoe are a bit out of your mind and living in La La Land.

John Whitehot

you know, the only people you could convince aren’t able to read and write in their own language, lest alone in english.

perhaps you should leave your interpretations of what Russia supports to when it’s not “one of those days”.

Langaniso Mhlobo

SDF has no legal or legitimacy to pardone or release terrorist.SDF hope or thinking the legitimate government will negotiate with them for Raqqa or Omar oilfields is a lost terrorist dream. All the lost land will first be taken back before the government and Syrians decide for their future.SDF stop sabotaging Syrians blooded hard won liberation peace and unity. There is reconciliation centres in Syria.SDF days of you being supported by USA,Saudi Arabia and Israel for terrorizing Syria and government forces are over.SDF Syrians never elected your terrorist organization or defectors group.

Bru

Excellent points!

matt

Jens Holm

I just tryed to talk with my radio. Its very semilar to You.

Langaniso Mhlobo

Next war which will come USA won’t handle because everyone who’s piss off with USA will attack it.SDF lay down your arms and surrender even useless UN won help you.

Jens Holm

The Imam is speaking after has fallen several times in his long beard.

Carol Davidek-Waller

The U.S. is simply protecting their investment in ‘moderate’ terrorism.

Kolarov

They be gud bois.

They dindu nuffin.

Jonathan Cohen

This probably sucks, although there is some reason to believe that privates may be basically conscripts and may not know what they are fighting for, all other ranks definitely do and are fully responsible including corporals. Nobody ISIS fighters should be let go unless they are sure that ISIS NEVER promoted them to ANY command rank, even corporal or equivalent.

Bob

The US/SDF/YPG really need some indigenous Arabs for marketing optics, to front the Kurdish occupation of the Arab city of Raqqa. These presumably low end ex ISIS members are now completely beholden to their captors – so they can be used to front Arab support for ‘local district councils’ subordinate to US/SDF/YPG.

Jonathan Cohen

An alliance with some arabs need not be fake since some arabs have no problem with PYD policies such as abortion rights and feminist socialism. a genuine transfer from ISIS forces would require a big misunderstanding or change of mind though, or at least extreme ignorance, though it would not surprise me if ISIS drafted or lied to some of their own soldiers to that extent.

François

Many ISIS members are Kurds. And knowing ISIS chose to flee to Eastern side of Euphrate to escape SAA, well the collusion between both camps is obvious. Brothers with US support, with same commitment to weaken and destroy Syria.

Jens Holm

I thought zionists like You supported ISIS.

Robert Duran

check who is calling someone a Zionist..lol..pot calling kettle black

Jens Holm

Some infidel sandniggers like You started this level. So this is just en eye for at foot. If you like it, you can get more.

I could write You support more cigarettes for muslims and things should be like in west, where up to 21 bears is healthy for men and 16 for vomen makes You live longer.

Tudor Miron

ISIS to SDF rebranding continues.

Jens Holm

More like some fire has been in Your head and some elctric component are out of order.

I hope this news (isis-fighter-admits-isis-forbidden-attack-kurdish-forces) does not come as too much a shock:

Tudor Miron

I have seen it but thanks anyway.

Garga

Notice that they all shaved.

(Dagnit I’m fixated on ISIS shaving. Shoo! Shoo!)

SDF “claims” Raqqah is full of IED’s.

Partisan, but even more, stupid, reporting by SF. Everybody knows that IS leaves cities they are forced to leave or are defeated there, full of mines and booby trapped to the hilt. Kobane, Manbij, Tabqah, Mosul, Sinjar, Ramadi, likely DeZ, etc etc.

So to say “claimed” is dumb reporting, partisan reporting.

Pity SF, I expected better from you.

Jens Holm

Some might say, that the first new buildings should be menthal hospitals with barbed wire around.

Jens Holm

Very good pictures. I dont dare to reseize the pictures. I have no space for them in my biggest room.

Solomon Krupacek

assad also releases jihadists. in much larger amount. he is same stupid as sdf maniacs.

one released jihadist organized bomb attack in damascus.

goingbrokes

Assad does not release jihadists. Assad recognises that many people got sucked into the groups of fighters for financial and survival reasons. He gives amnesty to all Syrian insurgents who put down their weapons and releases those fighters who have not committed any crimes during their “service”. Foreign insurgent jihadist are not given amnesty. From time to time there has been a deal with foreign fighters, including Syrians who refuse to stop fighting, to transfer them to Idlib’s terrorist held areas in order to close down insurgent pockets and reduce the danger these represent to civilian areas. A wise strategy. ISIS fighters do not get an amnesty. So SDF giving an amnesty to these ISIS fighters is quite different. As SDF and at least a portion of Daesh are on the same side these people cannot be regarded as people who have stopped fighting Syrian Government. SDF is playing government, and rather than transferring them to Syrian government for judgement they are releasing them. Bad call in my book. You just don’t release Daesh members into a society that has been abused and traumatised by them previously. It is madness.

Solomon Krupacek

hahaha

gustavo

If you are really surprised by this news….your must be so fool that you do not even know in what world you are living.

John Whitehot

those ISIS must be disgruntled. normally they are offered money, protection, guns and training from the US.

this time they only got to be released.

slayern2

Now send them to California…
