Three service members of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) were killed or wounded as a result of a drone attack that was launched by US-backed militants from the southeastern Syrian area of al-Tanf, Major General Oleg Yegorov, head of the Russian Reconciliation Center, revealed during a briefing on August 27.
“Militants operating in the Al-Tanf area, controlled by the ‘international coalition’ led by the US attacked an outpost of the Syrian Armed Forces 134th Armored Brigade west of mount Tell Al Tuwayed,” Yegorov said.
According to the Russian commander, that the drone attack claimed the life of a Syrian service member and wounded two others.
“Yet another incident that caused death and injuries among Syrian government forces that clearly displays the so-called US-led international coalition’s inability to ensure control over Al Tanf and to prevent terror attacks,” he said.
Maj. Gen. Yegorov didn’t provide further details on the attacks, which may have been carried out by the Revolutionary Commando Army (MaT). The faction is the US-led coalition’s main proxy in al-Tanf.
Earlier this week, the SAA foiled an infiltration attempt near al-Tanf by the MaT. Syrian troops killed three militants of the faction.
Some 200 US troops and 300 militants of the MaT are usually present in al-Tanf. The US-led coalition maintains a 55-kilometer no-fly zone around the garrison, which blocks a strategic highway between the Syrian capital, Damascus, and the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
Syria and Russia have been growing frustrated with the US-led coalition activities in al-Tanf. The garrison is reportedly being used as a forward base for intelligence gathering and sabotage.
The deadly drone attack on the SAA will not likely go unpunished. The Russian Aerospace Forces have already carried out two wave of airstrikes on US proxies in al-Tanf this year. A third wave of airstrikes could soon hit the garrison or nearby positions.
Iran knows exactly where FSA and Americunt rat bunkers are since they have 2 recon satellites now. 1 Qiam or Fateh missile and that bunker would be vaporized along with the rats inside them.
a swarm of 10-20 kamikaze drones would wipe the floor of this illegal occupying rat base.
