The US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) reported completing the installation of the anti-missile systems in Alaska, according to RIA.
“MDA and Boeing installed the 44th interceptor in the mine of the anti-missile system at Fort Greely,” said the director of the agency lieutenant general Sam Greaves.
The interceptor was installed on November 2. The anti-missile systems are set up in the region in order to intercept possible ballistic attack by North Korea or Iran.
Russian experts are doubtful though. According to colonel general Leonid Ivashov, the interceptors in Fort Greely are set up there in order to intercept Russian and Chinese ballistic missiles.
“Iranian missiles won’t fly over Alaska, the same goes for North Korean ones. But the bulk of Russian and Chinese missile trajectories go across the North Pole with Alaska in range,” Ivashov said. He also added that Russia had been developing new winged missiles and methods of overcoming anti-missile systems.
Iran is half-way around the world from the U.S, instead of hitting the West Coast they can hit the East Coast, or instead fly close to the equator away from Alaska.
Even IF Iran had ballistic missiles with a range of more than 10,000km and IF Iran was willing to hit the US mainland with no logical or realistic gains, their flight path (as the article says) won’t be over Alaska, even if Iran launches from NE Iran and targets LA. This is of course, given the earth is not flat! ;)

A very easy way to find out, is to fly directly from let’s say Santiago, Chile or Buenos Aires, Argentina into Auckland, Au or Wellington, NZ.
Apparently such flight exists by Latam Airlines Group. Their ticket sales system says the trip takes about 12:40′ (11:50′ for return) which seems right for the distance. I guess a trip by that flight can solve this once and for all.

this is typoical socet propaganda. everybody knows, the trajectory will not interfere with alaska. but! alaska is the best place for interceptor weapons against north korean missiles. moscpw wpuld do the same thing.

The best place to intercept a ballistic missile is BEFORE it reaches it’s apoapsis (or apogee, if you prefer that term) not after that which it gains insane velocity. That means the logical place to intercept it would be as close as possible to launch site.
i am enough smart, ayatollah. in iran you did not learn, the defense system has different components, responsible for destroyment of missile in any phase of flight.
