A US military reconnaissance aircraft crashed into the waters of the Pacific Ocean. Boeing P-8A Poseidon of the US Navy reportedly missed the runway while landing in Hawaii. There were nine people on board. All of them survived, but were injured.
According to the US Marine Corps, the P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft was landing on the runway of the Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay on the island of Oahu. The incident took place at 13:59 local time.
The exact cause of the crash is still unknown. Local media report that the aircraft could have fallen into the water as a result of a pilot error and bad weather conditions. It is not yet known whether and how the plane will be taken out of water.

Along with hunting submarines, the P-8A Poseidon is used for anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance missions in remote regions. There are more than 100 aircraft in service with the US military.

One of them is currently patrolling the Black Sea region near the coast of Romania. Together with other NATO aircraft, Poseidon ois actively used to monitor the Black Sea area in support to the Ukrainian military operations, including terrorist attack on Russian civilian infrastructure.

On November 19, another Boeing P-8A Poseidon of the US Navy took off from an Italian base and headed for the Middle East.

On November 17, Boeing P-8A Poseidon supported the operations of US Navy in the Persian Gulf.
