The US has been building a group of cruise missile carriers in the Middle East for strikes against government forces in Syria, which would be justified by a pre-planned provocation involving the use of chemical weapons in the province of Idlib, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told the media on August 27.
“The United States keeps building up the cruise missile carriers group in the Middle East as part of preparations for another provocation in Idlib Province to be presented as an alleged use of chemical weapons,” Konashenkov said.
Konashenkov noted that “these preparations are fresh confirmation of US intentions to use as a pretext a likely simulation of the government forces’ chemical attack, which Hayat Tahrir al-Sham [formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda] militants are plotting with active support from British secret services.”
Meanwhile, reports have started appearing from pro-government sources that the Syrian Air Defense Forces (SADF) have been already preparing to repel an expected US-led missile strike on the country.
These developments come amid the growing tensions in the province of Idlib. Last weekend, the Russian Defense Ministry revealed that thousands of militants with armoured vehicles and heavy weapons have gathered in Idlib preparing for an attack on government positions in northern Hama and southwestern Aleppo.

It is time not only to stop the missiles going to Syria but to sink or shot down the sources. Russia can do this without any difficulty, just do it.
Well, …………. so what. The Russians and the Syrian government have been trying to tell the yo-yo’s in Paris, London and Washington that this is not a god idea. Russia is practically identifying the Brits by name, doing the setup of the chem stuff. The Syrian government has recently been releasing photos taken by their spies in Idlib. They probably know exactly how many of them there are, what they have for lunch and where they have been sleeping. A plan is not good if everybody knows what is going on, especially in the theater of warfare. But, we have some real blockheads calling the shots and common sense may be completely off the table. Who knows.
The other angle, due to the fact that the potential targets have been forewarned weeks in advance ( incredible stupidity, nobody in any military college says that advance advertisement is the way to go over say …………… the element of surprise ), my guess would be that there is something waiting for the attackers. Plus, if this one goes over with a fizzle, FOR THE THRID TIME, we have now moved beyond the pale and proven beyond the wildest of doubt, that the Iranian general was correct ( can’t do crap without sufficient boots on the ground ).
In the world of violence, the ones who usually come out on top are those who talk the least. So for the Occidentals, my take is that the third time, may not be charmed for you. The bulk of Syrian forces now readying for the Idlib operation are right under the Russian air defense umbrella. It would be much smarter to just use the time to start packing up and go home. There was a previous statement by Russia that any attack on Syrian forces that had Russian advisors embedded with them would be an attack on the Russian advisers. Therefore, in order to protect their service members, Russia may ensure that any missiles targeting them, as well as the source of the missiles (eg aircraft, ships etc) will be targeted as an appropriate response. Russia needs to restate this imminently and with a firm advocation that such a response is certain.
