Carrier strike group (CSG) is an operational formation of the United States Navy. It is centered on an aircraft carrier and a carrier air wing (CVW) of 65 to 70 aircrafts. It’s composed of roughly 7,500 personnel, an aircraft carrier, at least one cruiser, a destroyer squadron of at least two destroyers and/or frigates. A carrier strike group also, on occasion, includes submarines, attached logistics ships and a supply ship. Carrier strike groups comprise a principal element of U.S. power projection over the world’s oceans.

Really amazing how much time these ships spend in homeport or drydock. Total waste of US taxpayers’ money.

Sinbad2

I think you might find they are in home port because of a lack of taxpayers dollars. The US can no longer afford to put the fleet to sea. Do they have enough sailors to crew them all?

BlueInGreen

Is that the case? I truly don’t know but if that is the case then the US has really lost a lot of their power projection capabilities.

Sinbad2

If something dramatic was happening, they could always close some more schools, or increase tariffs(taxes)

Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

i hope that is the case, because the fed can print as much money as the US wants

Sinbad2

All money printers come unstuck eventually. The US has got as far as it has, because the cost of money printing is payed for by the whole world.

But they are near the end, they can’t stop the debt from rising.

Ivan Freely

Or, some of them are undergoing a refit. The USS Ford is surprisingly turning out to be a dud.

H Eccles

As mighty as these carrier groups are, they run for the hills at the first sight of an Iranian speedboat.

Sinbad2

Talking of the hills, the new silk road makes the whole US control of trade via the navy obsolete. The Chinese have got every angle covered, the US empire is cactus fuctus.
