US Embassy Employee Is Briefly Detained With Mortar Shell In Moscow's Main Airport

ILLUSTRATIVE IMAGE

Security at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport discovered a mortar shell in the luggage of a US Embassy employee heading to London.

The discovery of “an object resembling a mortar shell with a fuse” was made on March 9 morning. The situation caused a major alert and a bomb squad was called in. Later, it emerged that the mortar shell had no explosive compound inside with only small traces of a blasting agent remained on its surface.

Despite the incident, the US diplomat was able to depart to London because of he was protected by his diplomatic immunity. He explained the situation by claiming he bought an empty mortar shell without an explosive compound for his “private collection.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry described the incident was a “provocation” and demanded explanations.

“It seems that the United States is trying to test Russia’s security capabilities not just from without, by regularly sending their warships and aircraft on provocative raids near our borders, but from within as well, even by using their embassy employees”, Sputnik quoted own sources among ministry officials.

By now, mainstream media outlets have been mostly silent over the incident. However, it’s easy to imagine their reaction if it would be a Russian diplomat with a mortar somewhere in New York or London.

The very least the US diplomat should have done , is to have discussed his export of the inert mortar bomb with Russian and indeed British authorities BEFORE his flight.

The fact that he did not do so, suggests stupidity or a malign intent.

Whenever I have travelled abroad with firearms or weapons, including de-activated weapons and swords, I have always notified the relevant authorities and transporters etc ,weeks in advance, so that they have time to reply and discuss their requirements.

I would be really surprised if this was due to stupidity. No doubt, these idiots can be stupid, but I think the Russians are right, this was a ‘fact finding mission’…can you imagine the TSA agents crapping their pants if they found this in any US airport? I would love to see the look on their face when they see this on their imaging equipment. Grope this…load pants.

I took a sword to France about 3 years ago , and even after communicating with the ferry company and port security many weeks before , they still shit their pants. I had all the paperwork that I was sent by the port authorities, and the sword was wrapped as they asked, but it still caused a drama :)

You can call me Al

You worry me sometimes. Why do you travel abroad with guns and swords ?.

Lol.

Zionism = EVIL

There is no shortage of morons in this world, especially on blogs. However, his story sounds like BS as in this day and age traveling around with even a dud grenade is not plausible. Some of these kids are quite disturbed fibbers.

John Wallace

I took a trophy Russian hand grenade from Africa too Australia and the New Zealand. I declared and showed it at every entry and exit point that I had defused it . No problems whatsoever.. The grenade had been thrown in a contact but the person forgot to pull the pin in the heat of the moment. Better than pulling the pin on a 3 second fuse and holding it to your head and counting to five , yes did happen , he did it once.

Let me bring you kids up to speed on Americunt, Limey gits and Froggy “diplomats”. Ever since the trading Genovese city states, “diplomats” have been used a spies and saboteurs. The only difference is that under Zionist global evil guise, these “diplomats” openly support terrorism and destabilization of countries they want to control. Every Americunt, Limey, Froggy “diplomat” is affiliated with either the CIA, DIA, NSA, FBI, DEA or other terrorist sponsoring organization. Why would the US need dozens of “political, cultural, education and visa attaches” in every country. The same goes for Americunt businessmen, tourists, journalists, students and academics. Philip Agee, Edward Snowden and many other US dissenters exposed Americunt idiots bizarre tactics. Agee’s book Inside the Company: CIA Diary is a must read. The dissident former officer who turned against the agency and spent years exposing undercover American spies overseas.

Russian western partners are killers man.Never trust officials only ordinary individuals.

I do tend to have an involuntary burp every-time I hear the term US diplomat. Surely, this mythical species is as extinct as the dinosaurs? Anyone seen these unicorns, lately, who are really regime change fanatics and “democracy” jihadists?

Zionism = EVIL

There are no US diplomats, all are spies or terrorist sponsors. In this day and age why would anyone need diplomats and every “secret” is posted on-line in real time. Ask the moronic Indians and their “surgical strike” on trees how that secret worked out?, the secret did not last long when their Migs and Sukhois started falling out of the skies, courtesy of PAF and geriatric downed Ruskie junk pilot paraded in front of global media. The only reason countries have “diplomats” now is to peddle political, military and economic influence, buy traitors and support terrorists. Most Americunt “embassies” have thousands of staff, all of them are either military or CIA and other alphabet soup agency spies. The Americunt “embassy” in Green Zone Baghdad has over 4,000 people. The same in other cities, no wonder the Iranians called the embassy in Tehran the DEN OF SPIES and exposed all the gear in 1979 take over.

So, what exactly can the US smuggle in their diplomatic bags? I am pleased that RF officials are alert, but the scheming by the US Evil Empire continues. Beware the ides of March!

Wolfgang Wolf

due to securitiy reasons, blow up his whole luggage)

LOL

John

This was some very stupid stuff. I doubt it was an accident. How did the US Federal Government ’employee’ acquire the shell in the first place?

Peter Jennings

This US employee claims the mortar is for his private collection. I just bet he is lots of fun.

This is a prank to test Russian security systems. It’s a fair bet that London police knew it was coming their way.

Sinbad2

Another simpleminded American trap. The guy would have had diplomatic immunity, so if the Russians detained him Reuters et al would have been running headlines that Russia doesn’t respect diplomatic norms, and is taking US citizens hostage.

Lazy Gamer

Errr. Reverse planting? lol A big one too for the lolz.
