US-held Area Of At-Tanf Once Again Appears To Be 'ISIS-Welcome' Zone In Syria

On November 8, the Syrian Special Forces rescued a group of hostages from ISIS during a military operation in the Hamimah area in the eastern part of Homs province.

At least 30 hostages were captured by ISIS in an attack on the government-held area in eastern al-Suwayda on July 25. A part of them, 6 people, was freed by ISIS in September in the framework of a local deal between the terrorist group and the Damascus government. However, after

The most strange thing in this development is where the hostages were rescued. As it was noted by multiple persons following the conflict, Hamimah (Humaymah) is located far away (over 250km) from the area, where the hostages were captured or where ISIS positions in eastern al-Suwayda are located [al-Safa].

The map above allows to see that Hamimah (Humaymah) and al-Safa are separated by the so-called “security zone” imposed by the US-led coalition near its military garrison in at-Tanf.

The Russian and Syrian militaries have repeatedly warned that the al-Tanf zone are being used by terrorist groups, including ISIS, as a rear base and a foothold to carry out attacks on government-held areas. The ISIS safe haven is actively protected by US-led coalition forces, which threaten any Syrian Army troops deploying close to the al-Tanf zone. The formal justification of these actions is that Syrian government troops as well as Iranian-backed forces in Syria pose a threat to US-backed “democratic” militant groups and US troops deployed near the at-Tanf garrison.

One also has to conclude ISIS escaped from this area al Safa, one which everybody writes as being surrounded by the SAA. So what’s happening? One thing is good: These hostages and their family can rejoice. The question is: Were these hostages put there shortly after the raid? Or recently?

Promitheas Apollonious

and you figured out the terrorists escaped based on what?

willyvandamme

Based on the stories we are given so far. They were kidnapped in Suwayda province and found more then 100 km east. It’s that simple.

Promitheas Apollonious

so one part of the attack was a destruction have you ever think of that? At least is what I do.

willyvandamme

Frankly I don’t understand what you here want to say. The problem with this story is we have only one side of the affair. So to know exactly what had happened one has to first have others (ISIS/US) telling their side of these events and also interviews with at least some of these hostages. Without these elements we are left in doubt about this kidnapping and liberation.

Promitheas Apollonious

I see. well then, remain in doubt

willyvandamme

It’s better to remain in doubt then to make claims without hard evidence as so many do.

Sterke taal, Willy!

Not particularly ‘a strong language’, on the contrary: one always has to have doubt, even about himself.

Al Tanf and Rukban Is the new Sarajevo from where us-supported and protected headchoppers ran raids on Christians and Nato shot at all patriots trying to retake their land.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Question 1: Why did you establish and illegal military base on the Syria-Jordan border? Answer 1: For housing of US troops stationed at al-Tanf zone.

Question 2: Why do you need troops stationed in al-Tanf zone? Answer 2: You dummy! To protect the base which in they are housed!

Hilarious, my dear fellow! Someone should publish a book with all your quotes on Southfront! On a matter so serious, you always seem to find a touch of humour in all of it!

Russian propaganda accusing the US of doing exactly what the Russians are doing. Only a complete idiot can believe a large group of ISIS fighters first escaped surrounded al Safa and traveled over 50 miles through Syrian controlled territory to attack a whole village and take 30 hostages. This was not some quick ambush along a road. Then ISIS traveled hundreds of miles through Syrian controlled territory with 30 hostages, can we rule out walking?

This article simply draws a straight line from the attack to where hostages were held. How in the world can any one travel with a group that large in a straight line avoiding all roads and trails?

Obviously Russia-Syria-Iran were in on the attack. Then ISIS holds the hostages and murders some for 6 months in Syrian controlled territory. Finally handing hostages they had not yet murdered over to Russia who claimed their special forces rescued them.

willyvandamme

Any proof?

“Obviously Russia-Syria-Iran were in on the attack. Then ISIS holds the hostages and murders some for 6 months in Syrian controlled territory. Finally handing hostages they had not yet murdered over to Russia who claimed their special forces rescued them.”

Motive is often the key to solving crime. The USA’s objectives are to remove Assad from power and keep military forces in Syria to check Iran. As long as ISIS exists the USA has an excuse to stay in Syria. it’s in the USA’s interests to allow ISIS to exist.

It makes logical / strategic sense for the USA to insure ISIS survives as an excuse to stay in Syria and because ISIS is actively fighting against Assad and the Iranians. What is your argument as to why the Russian-Syrian-Iranian allowed ISIS to take human shields then travel across the desert through US controlled territory?
