More than 17 civilians, including women and children, were killed on November 3, when US-led coalition warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on the ISIS-held town of Hajin in the middle Euphrates River Valley, according to the Syrian pro-opposition Baladi News outlet.
“The airstrikes were focused on civilian houses behind the Khalid bin al-Walid mosque in the town of Hajin,” Zein al-Abdin, a local activist, told Baladi News.
Earlier, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that US-led coalition warplanes and artillery struck positions of ISIS in the Euphrates Valley. However, the UK-based monitoring group didn’t report any casualties.
The main Syrian ally of the US-led coalition, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), suspended its ground operation in the Euphrates Valley on October 31 after a series of setbacks. The new increase in airstrikes there is likely an attempt by the coalition to make up for the SDF’s decision.
The SOHR claims that the SDF has deployed new forces around the remaining ISIS positions in the Euphrates Valley in order to resume its ground operation as soon as possible. However, local observers believe that the suspension of the operation may last for at least a few weeks.
Continuing their long cowardly history of overwhelming devastating attacks on those least able to defend themselves. Great training for the coming Karmic fall from grace awaiting all western “forces”.
As the article said, with no SDF on the ground the US has no option but to use airpower, they only have US special forces working as spotters and a few loyal Arab SDF, so must make do with what they have. The article should also mention that the Iraqi military and Iraqi PMU are trying to take up the slack to north, east and south [SAA territory] of the area but the western areas outside the besieged town Hajin, are now mostly unprotected. The SAA have also been assisting the Iraqis with artillery support, hitting Isis positions north of the Euphrates on US side of the river, I’m sure they didn’t ask for US approval or coordinate their strikes with the US personnel closeby, too bad if they hit them instead of Isis by accident, it’d help repay them for the nearly 100 the SAA lost to the US airstrike in Dier ez Zor. Get ready for a resurgence of Isis in US controlled territory, the Kurds might reluctantly help the US stop Isis taking back any oil fields, but they won’t help protect any Arab towns or villages if they’re in danger, they’ll be left to the mercy of Isis I’m afraid. If the Kurds won’t help the US out, I’m sure Erdogan’s already offered to take up the slack, he just got a foot in the door in Kobani so his help may have already started. When will people get it? This “coalition” has never been targeting their proxy ‘terrorists’, but has always taken aim at eliminating the civilian populace as part of a most evil “ethnic cleansing” campaign!
