US-led Coalition Airdrops Militants From At-Tanf To Al-Shaddadi, Aims To Seize More Border Area - Media

The US-led coalition has airdropped about 100 members of US-backed groups of the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) from the US-held At-Tanf area in southeastern Syria to the Al-Shaddadi area in northeastern Syria, according to pro-militant media activists and media outlets.

Both At Tanf and Al-Shaddadi are located near the border with Iraq.

According to reports, the goal of this move is to set a foothold for the US-backed advance on the government-held city of Deir Ezzor besieged by ISIS terrorists. Another obvious target for the US-led operation is the ISIS-held border town of al-Bukamal.

If reports confirmed, this move will be considered as a common part of a wider US effort aimed at building a buffer zone between Syria and Iraq and seizing as much border area as possible. The goal is to prevent any cooperation between the Syrian and Iraqi military.

American Zionism with its FSA proxies. Trump the dirty Zionist.

Shred1

Obomber wasn’t?

Colin Oskapy

Trump is no improvement on the Kenyan. One of the many deficiencies in your abridged,Mickey Mouse thinking is that Trump is something. Trump and his fully Zionist administration is outright scum. At least the Kenyan concurred with the International Claims Tribunal, re; Iran, and instituted ObamaCare.

WTF are the Iraqi’s doing? PMU just stopped? No isea why just when they are on a roll they pull up to be simply checkmated soon after. Saw this before was an interesting insight into Arab armies from a Western perspective. Not sure if any of this is accurate or applicable to this situation, comments will hopefully provide interesting perspectives.

Stephen

Comment from Israel.

Kell

Most likely but interesting observations and a hard pill to swallow, but if this is reality and it is faced better outcomes can be forthcoming., This may be why Russia is training the 5th corps etc in an attempt to change this paradigm.

Bill Wilson

God has blessed Israel and the USA!

Which God?

Israelis the mothers of terrorists.

Solomon Krupacek

WTF are the Iraqi’s doing?

i commented several times, that the iraqi army will not participate on SAA plans. this told clearly the PM of iraq. he told also, the PMU units are illegal in syria. in language of diplomacy this was clear message.

Manuel Flores Escobar

PMU are ilegal in Syria?..who say that?…Syria government invite PMU..and USA are ilegal in Syria!..this is the true!

Solomon Krupacek

acording iraqi law, yes.

inlot of countries is not allowed for citizens to fight in other countries. many of those, who fight with kurds and go back in eu country will be sentenced.

Ma_Laoshi

Whatever the truth behind these nuances, is it even relevant to the original point? If PMU would be able to steamroll ISIS on the Iraqi side that would be of great help in the overall picture, right? I thought Kell suggested they were doing little of any consequence.

Solomon Krupacek

this is true. but see you? the iraqi government stopped them. and IF pmu do not want became renegade, MUST keep the official politics of country.

i want to tell only this: the picture is not black and white, and the solutions are not as simply as manytimes we think.

Manuel Flores Escobar

Iraqi PMU fight in Syria since 3 years ago as well as Hezbollah…in EU countries if you fight againts ISIS you will sentenced….

Manuel Flores Escobar

In Syria if you fight againts ISIS you will be attacked by US led coalition!

Solomon Krupacek

not in all. BUT! in all eu countries is sentenced, if the citizen enters isis.

Jc Plancarte

Not exactly. Sweden, and other stupid EU countries, will be giving returning ISIS terrorists new identities so that they can re-enter society!!!! Can these stupid, naive, criminal liberal governments be more suicidal in the way they are destroying their people, culture, civilization??? They are like a fifth column that has let in the muslim trojan horse to destroy european civilization!!!!

Ma_Laoshi

There was an article on RT about some Swedish music festival. After experiencing four rapes in 2017 despite heightened security, they’ve decided to cancel the 2018 edition. Why with the half-measures I thought, when clearly the sensible response is to cancel Sweden in 2018.

So many cultures have collapsed after adopting an unworkable ideology. Europeans consider themselves too enlightened to examine whether that might be the case with themselves as well.

George King

Correction it was the US army that refused to collaborate with the PMU in the battle for Mosul not the Iraqi government. An Iraq parliament bill has endorsed the PMU and it is now part of the army.

Iraqi prime minister Haider al-Abadi posted on Twitter that he came to “oversee liberation operations and meets with ISF [Iraqi Security Forces], PMU commanders.” Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, a senior PMU leader, was in the photos Abadi tweeted. Symbolically, this shows that the PMU is the power behind the throne, and that behind that power lies Iranian influence.

This stokes fears in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) capital of Erbil, where Kurdish officials have been planning a referendum but are not confronted with a powerful Shia force that has opposed plans for independence.

The Kurds, who liberated Sinjar in November 2015, have been divided near the Syrian border due to infighting between PKK-affiliated Kurdish groups and Erbil’s peshmerga.

The PMU offensive caught them off guard. Many of the villages the PMU liberated were previously home to the Yazidi minority and the center of ISIS atrocities in 2014. Kurds see them as part of the KRG and the areas that it disputes with Baghdad—disputes that predate the arrival of ISIS.

With the Shia militias running them, Erbil’s plans for any further operations in Sinjar are stymied. The PMU also finds itself with new neighbors: a Yazidi force connected to the PKK that controls a part of the Syrian border, that will not stand. Neither Turkey,Syria, Iraq nor Iran will allow this in the coming developments……. http://nationalinterest.org/feature/will-iraqs-shia-militias-give-iran-road-the-sea-21030

Solomon Krupacek

Correction it was the US army that refused to collaborate with the PMU in the battle for Mosul not the Iraqi government. An Iraq parliament bill has endorsed the PMU and it is now part of the army.

as i know, the arabs in mosul wanted exclude the PMU. so, IF PMU is part of army, they have no chance to do own steps. this was nice trap from iraqi government.

George King

The post-IS era will be critical as Abadi is trying to steer PMU factions away from politics in order to impose government control on them. However, some powerful parties within the PMU have publicly rejected these attempts. For instance, the secretary-general of Asaib Ahl al-Haq, Qais al-Khazali, in a clear challenge to the PMU law, has recently stepped up his political activities ahead of the upcoming elections. He has stressed the PMU’s involvement in politics.

However, amid the ongoing fragmentation underlying the Iraqi government, the government seems unable to fully exert control over these forces in the foreseeable future, not to mention that it remains powerless to seize the tribes’ arms. That said, these armed groups’ Iranian affiliation and support will empower them to challenge the Iraqi government and advance their pro-Iran agenda.

Solomon Krupacek

but that means splitting of iraq

George King

I don’t see it that way, we are talking about secular states and their borders where their goverment/s are elected by the people of their country not by dictation from outside forces but from common desires that unite them as a country and a people..

Solomon Krupacek

ok, understood

Brad Isherwood

US leverage in Iraq/Syria backfire? ..as Shia Militias adapt to confront ISUS and as you mentioned, ….become Political. Unless Israhell /US want Iran to have to sponsor something more than IRGC.

It’s still all about Iran…..getting Iran to show its Military capability. The recent Ballistic missiles strike and Their accuracy over 100s of klms has Confirmed opinions as to Iran’s increasing technology prowess.

Hopefully Baghdad will not see any more Mosque bombings and bodies Found in the morning with kneecaps drilled,….thanks to Negroponte cent/am Death squad CIA practices 2.0 in Iraq. If only Iraq had a political leader which ordered the US to leave.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The truth is the Kurds,Sunnis and the US leaders were afraid of the popularity of the PMU (ISF) . That is the real reason and they still managed to shine brighter by freeing the Yezidi in areas .

Kell

Nice trap? Perhaps but they remain a massive powerbase in Iraq and they will become the Govt/Army in due course, I said this would happen in 2003 that taking out Saddam would hand the region to Iran and people scoffed., Now it has happened and now im more red pilled on the way the world works im glad it has.

Brad Isherwood

http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2017/05/iraq-kurdistan-peshmerga-pmu-sinjar.html Possibly CIA/US intend to Presence in NW Iraq ….Support Barzahni Crypto Jew Crime World and FSA/Kurd. Turn them against PMU. Once that happens….things domino all the way South to Muqtada al Sadr. There are so many Shia Militias in Iraq….it’s probable with Future Iraq elections in 2018, Several Shia Leaders will attempt to consolidate them . Tehran needs the PMU to stay unified and grow larger than 140,000.

George King

Kurds have their hands full with ISIS and now Turkey is moving in on Afrin canton and adjoining Shehba region and the shelling begins early this morning.

Kurdish politicians have accused Turkey of continuing its anti-Kurdish policy across the region and have said attempts to invade Shehba and Afrin, which have at least a 1.5 million population will damage the Kurdish-led SDF’s fighting against ISIS in Raqqa and spread war and instability in the area.

Some one mentioned asymmetrical responses from Russia, well there you go!

Kell

PMU is already in Syria in several guises inclueding Iraqi Hezbollah.

Bill Wilson

Yep, and are being fed headlong into battle by Assad, Russia and the USA so their numbers will be reduced by death and serious injuries. The USA snookered the idiot Shi’ite militias into SE Syria to get wasted fighting ISIS. The US just airlifted this batch of 100 to prevent ISIS fighters from fleeing back into Iraq thru the desert. The PMU has no business in Syria and the USA can keep them out by refusing to supply the Iraqi Army until the PMU militias have pulled back and away from the border. The USA/FSA will remain at al-Tanf to kick back east the Sissy Arab Army militias that flee west to escape getting their asses whipped by ISIS.

Ma_Laoshi

Honest is best. To you, legitimacy is something which is doled out, and withdrawn, at Washington’s sole discretion. That’s why your lot needs to be pushed out of Eurasia of course, but apart from that: yes, it’d seem that these are the tactics used by the Dark Throne to stop Iraqis from liberating their country. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t; it’s not as if the Russki’s have spare capacity to take care of business next door as well.

Shame, shame until the seventh generation to those Iraqi traitors who let the orcs back in, after they price they paid up to 2011 to get them out.

Stephen

Because then PMU will wash up entire water paint art work of Zionist Israel.

Jens Holm

Thats what arabs dont want to hear.

“Field Marshal Amir” looks a helluva lot like Sir Alan Brooke – Chief of the British Imperial General Staff. I guess details aren’t important when you’re studying the BIG pitcher.

alexis

I would say, the US is not absolutelly sure the future friendship with Iraq. The US is still considered as invader in Iraq, despite the present Iraq’s goverment cooperation with US. There are the signs, future cooperation between Iraq and Syria. Both of them has almost the same destiny, afflicted by civil war, its only question of time, when they start the close cooperation…

Bob

In middle 1970’s Syria’s Al-Assad senior and Iraqi President Al-Bakr started plans to unify Baathist Syria and Baathist Iraq with effect from 1979 – with intent to counter US brokered Camp David agreements. This plan was essentially halted by Saddam Hussein who as Deputy Sectary of Iraqi Baathist Party feared for his power base and moved to forced out Al-Bakr and assumed Presidency and full control in 1979. Not surprisingly, the US backed Hussein at this point in time and then further encouraged him to attack Iran in the following year. Point being, Syria and Iraq have interesting history, an opposition to Israeli peace accords and potential for very close political interdependence outside of the US sphere of influence. The US well knows this – and having deposed the once useful Hussein themselves, they are doing everything in their power in attempt to severe any potential Iraqi and Syrian realignment.

EL ZORRO

100% correct Bob, the majority of the over vaccinated and over CHEMTRAILED Americans are ignorants of that reality.

JNDillard

An astute observation. The overwhelming presence and influence of both Iran and Russia in Iraq in the first instance and Syria in the second is going to neutralize these Israeli-US schemes, of which all parties are all aware. However, all in due course. First ISIS and Al-Qaeda and the return of Dier–Ezzor to Syria; then the neutralization of the remaining pockets of US/Saudi/Doha/Turkish allies, then the Kurds. Without Kurdish support to do the actual fighting, the US will have no way to maintain its presence in Syria. With the defeat of ISIS, Iraq will tilt more and more into alliance with both Iran and Syria and will expel the remaining Americans. All of this before 2020.

Floyd Hazzard

Until Russia starts flying aircraft over these areas to protect Syrian troops and their allies from these illegal encroachers and the insurrection they support which is counter to all international laws, they will do as they please. I don’t understand, They Syrian army and their allies are all legal. Turkey, NATO, Israel and all their allies are illegal. Put them in the international spotlight so the world can see their shame.

Joe Doe

International law and International spotlight does not matter any more. This days International Law is power and run by powerful nation(s). Weak and poor nations are push a side. The only right is to obey or be destroy it

John Marks

The trouble is that anything any ‘spotlight’ reveals is first run through the corporate cabal controlling the world’s media – and if they don’t like what the spotlight reveals, it doesn’t get reported. As an example, witness what happened to Seymour Hersch’s report for the London Review of Books: http://www.jonathan-cook.net/blog/2017-06-26/hershs-new-syria-revelations-hidden-from-view/

Attrition47

Good point, Omnibot in the Graun is up to his old tricks again, smearing people for being sceptical about corp-0-rat media propaganda against Syria.

Joe Doe

Looks like americans plan is to press South from Kurds area along IRAQ border and Kurds I also will press SOuth after Raqqa is conquered. SAA should more advanced speed as they do now. SAA is very slow, therefore may complicate its situation in SYria

Solomon Krupacek

you, me and some other people can see the situation right and write here, but the russians, syrians and their fanatic brainless applauders will answer: we have time, we have time, manana, manana!

cortisol

It will not matter, after ISIS/Nusra war is over, SDF heartland will be squeezed from all sides and any SDF puppet south of Raqqa will be left cut off, to rot in the desert.

Ma_Laoshi

Could it be that the Kremlin likes it how the Syria campaign makes Russia look relevant in the world as long as it goes on? You still have to *win* it.

Solomon Krupacek

i dont know. i see, that the reputation of russia is declining. so, if this will be long-lasting thing, russia will become clown.

that’s why Russian arms sales are are doubling !

Davey Price

Russia and its actions in both syria and the washed up UN have been perfect. In both areanas they followed the laws and institutions so they could provide truthful depositions at all times. A plan based on conflivt de-esculation along peace talks in Astana was a great idea. As its proved moderates have renageed on there deal so will now be back in the rat basket to be treated how they deserve. The Gulf falling out means that Qatar is been bullied and those spoilt bastards will distrust each other more than ever. Russia came to Syria to assit and destroy IS. The US admitted huge hope that IS could inflict huge damage in there dream of over throwing a legit government. John Kerry never talked of the huge cost to human life. Even as late as last week israel was bombing and killing SAA fighting AlQaeda in Quinteria and occupied Golan.. They have lost grip with reality US Saudi and Israel Your on the wrong side of History

Kell

Not from anyone with a brain that doesnt consume mass media judaic drivel. Russia is seen ever increasingly as a fair nation that plays by the rules and is considerate of further ramifications unlike its (((western))) competitors. The world is seeing this in front of its eyes, Putin is exposing the JWO empire for what it really is and the billions of the world are taking notice.

It’s not checkers. You keyboard generals think it’s a video game. Geo politics is VERY complicated. More than chess. Especially now. It’s a world war against the corporate Cabal. New World Order , Globalists. whatever you want to call them. TRUMP & PUTIN are doing their best. Neither are strong enough to take our world back in 1 min. Give it after 2018 elections. You saw how Macron & globalists stole the French election. Trump still has 84% of his appointments blocked by Congress . A republican controlled Congress. He has to compromise. He can’t make the mistake the Kenedy’s did. Take them all on at once.

Yes (((Congress)))

John Mason

Too bad that they were not shot down, that would have created a major media storm.

Jesus

US is being outmatched by the Russians and SAA on the ground, FSA ithout heavy equipment around Al Shaddadi area will be a joke, the same kind of a joke they were in Southern Syria with heavy equipment. SAA and allies will reach Deir Ezzor and Al Bukama relatively soon and will cross Euphrates at several points going east against FSA and SDF.

dutchnational

Interesting, assuming there will be bridges, which there are not.

Jesus

Have you heard about pantoon bridges? What about ferries? Airborne or heliborne troops? Let SDF get quagmired in Raqqa and FSA can pound sand.

dutchnational

I do not know about you, but I hardly think the SAA has very many pontoons in the middle of the desert Neither will they have much experience if the Russians supply them. In any case, they will not be there within a very short timespan.

If the other side of the river is in the hands of the SDF, any crossing is highly unlikely. Just my guess.

Jesus

If the Russians supply them, most likely they will help them to deploy. SDF manpower is limited, south of Raqqa they do not control much, even if they ventured further south, their defenses would be very porous. Tiger forces in Resafa would overshadow any SDF attempted advances to the south, and they could easily cut off N4 at any point south of Raqqa and impose fire control on the east side of Eufrates.

Concrete Mike

You been to Russia lately?? Lots of rivers, if the Russian engineers are with SAA, you bet they showed Them how to build à bridge, à 3 Span Bailey bridge can go Up in an afternoon.

All these set ups are portable, and can fit on a couple trucks.

http://www.stephensmfg.com/thoroughbred.html Here is an example of à portable concrete plant setup. Point is, those Who know what they are doing, plopping à temporary bridge is no big deal. Dont let your local department of transportation fool you.

Besides, lots of mountains and Rivers in Latakia, so they know how to do bridges on their own I bet.

dutchnational

I do not doubt the Russia has pontoons. I do doubt they have them in Syria. I do doubt SAA has enough of them, even if they ever built them over the creeks of Latakia.

In theory, they just need a 3d printer for all the parts. The university of Eindhoven has a 3d concreteprinter where they can print the parts of a bridge anytime of the day. I doubt the SAA has a 3d concrete printer of adequate size.

Anyway, a pontoon bridge over the river is possible and there is already one, mostly destroyed, over the Euphrates, just on the edge of where the SDF has taken the north bank of the river (to the east). Look on wikimapia and you can see the bridge.

Charlie rad

The Russians already supplied at least 3 -4 sets of Pontoons to Syria. Saw some video of them being off -loaded months ago.

Miguel Redondo

Including the napoleonic army had zappers and engineers for that purpose more than 200 years ago.

dutchnational

And they went down the drain, you would have known if you had bothered finishing the book.

Daniel Castro

They went down the drain because of Russia, not because they couldn’t cross rivers.

Jacek Wolski

Caesar’s Bridge across the Rhine 2000 years ago, was a much more impressive accomplishment.

Dustil schmit

Dream world if you think you will cross the euprhates. Three main cities that will take months to take from ISIS.

Jesus

You are dreaming SAA and allies will have Deir Ezzor and abu Kamal before SDF is done with Raqa. They can cross Euphrates before taking Abu Kamal, Deir Ezzor is defeating ISIS everytime, cross Euphrates destroy any remaining supply lines ISIS has, and PMU will close from the Iraqi side. Crossing the Euphrates will entail fighting ISIS, so US and SDF can play around Racca.

Jens Holm

You know nothing about supply´. Where do Russia get another helicopter from and when.

SAA has hardly left Palmyra, and know You tell they can do this as ordring a steak.

Charlie rad

Russians have the most powerful Heavy lift Helos in the world. & Planes. Mi-26 . The Myrna Airlifter. AN-225 & An-124.

Solomon Krupacek

and? how many are in syria?

Jens Holm

I know. At least one is working in USA/Canada lifting very heavy things, where there are no roads.

Nice.

dutchnational

In an earlier comment, I assumed this presumed transfer to be fake, suggesting transport either by heli or flying carpet. It turned out to be a heli, surprise.

It seems to be about some hundred fighters and I fail to see the value of a separate group or militia for them. It ties in to an earlier discussed SDF offensive going south from Shaddaadi, towards the Euphrates river.

It makes strategic sense for the SDF to control the whole north of the Euphrates. Maybe they should propose to Assad to do it together. Assad the south bank until say 30 kms east of Raqqah, SDF from there till the present lines. Assad taking the desert. Let him have his freeway through the desert as long as he respects the territory of northern Syria. At the least the civillians in DeZ will be happy to see the siege lifted if that happens.

Jakke1899

Incomprehensible, this American sense of logic!

Rodger

I don’t see much logic in dropping your troops in a position where they are surrounded and will stay that way for a while.

Michael Qiao

once again, SAA better move fast

Ma_Laoshi

Somewhere, someone hasn’t internalized that the SAA aren’t the only suitors for this Syrian land. 100 fighters (who probably aren’t that good) in itself won’t mean much for the border or Euphrates Valley, but in all fairness this is an adaptable operator. Is the Kremlin even paying as much attention as us?

FlorianGeyer

I am sure that the Kremlin planners are several steps in front of us.

Davey Price

Yes they usually are and are probabley well reversed in a plan to deal with trouble from the US filth and there rabble

Bill Wilson

Pootin doesn’t give a shit as long as Russia has their naval base on the coast. Assad won’t be around much longer anyways since the World won’t donate jack shit towards rebuilding Syria as long as Junior is in power. Russia can’t afford to foot the bill nor can Iran.

JNDillard

Means the US has given up on Al-Tanf, will be pulling out shortly, leaving that important border crossing between Iraq and Syria, i.e., between Iran and Hezbollah, in the hands of respective nations. Coming soon to a war theater near you.

Kell

The only thing they can do is a run down the border with US settiling up baseses to “support” ah la Al tanf

Ronald

Regardless of the bad news , a good time to reclaim al Tanf .

Daniel

The Syrian airforce should assist them just like the US airforce did to te SAA in Deir Ezzor.

EL ZORRO

“The US-led coalition has airdropped about 100 members of US-backed groups of the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) from the US-held At-Tanf area in southeastern Syria to the Al-Shaddadi area in northeastern Syria, according to pro-militant media activists and media outlets”…TRANSLATION…The UNITE SNAKES COALITION, airdropped about 100 INTERNATIONAL MERCENARY TERRORISTS in the SOVEREIGN TERRITORY OF southeastern Syria in a FLAGRANT VIOLATION of INTERNATIONAL LAW, perpetuating the GENOCIDE AND CRIMES AGAINS HUMANITY BY THE UNITED SNAKES COALITION of INTERNATIONAL CRIMINALS.

Lynx Fēlēs

That was predictable

Mohammed Asim

It seems that United States is in hurry they must remember that they are supporting small militants and hoping that they will defeat saa and its allies, saa will get the whole border area

Mountains

I reckon they will deploy alot of USA forces in this base while the 150 is just a distraction. Also believe the bulk of the army will be USA forces in the push for Deir Ezzor

Jens Holm

Hard to believe. They cant even take Markada.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The US was discounting the air drop because it would show that they are abandoning the base , they said they have no intention of leaving the base at Al Tanf . This could be just a propaganda move since 100 wouldn’t be very effective in a region crawling with Russian and NATO SF units .

gfsdyughjgd .

Clear repositioning of terrorist by USA in a sovereign Syria with barbaric stupid blind arrogance of Nato agenda.

gfsdyughjgd .

Time has come for other countries to create free USA/Nato armies and start building bases in Germany,Brittain, france, germany, canada, australia, israel, usa, for fighting against Isis and Alqaida. But if the hosting countries approach this bases their must be attacked for defeating the terrorist.

Ronald

You have some money do you .

Ma_Laoshi

Not a new idea: there was this cheeky German who called on Berlin to recognize the Black Lives Matter protestors in Ferguson as legitimate opposition–and start arming them of course.

Jacek Wolski

An idea by an ANTIFA lunatic?

Ma_Laoshi

Nope I did mean cheeky: some satirical guy. Can’t find it right now, it’ll come back to me. ANTIFA is not known for its sense of humor–just another thing that makes them natural allies of the salafis. New Jersey state just formally declared them a terrorist organization.

Kell

ANTIFA lol

The Iraqis had pull their bloody fingers out and get moving or their Shia crecsent is done for! Syria has no hope of getting anywhere near the area anytime soon so its going to have be PMU/Iraqi Army if they want a future..
