On July 20, the US-led coalition in Syria announced in an official statement that entire region of al-Dashisha has been liberated by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The region was the last foothold of the terrorist group in the northeastern governorate of al-Hasakah, according to local observers.
“Our SDF partners are relentless in their pursuit of Daesh [ISIS] and are deftly executing that mission. The liberation of al-Dashisha brings us one step closer to ridding northeast Syria of the evils of Daesh and now thousands of people can return to a safe and secure environment with a brighter future for their children,” Major General James Jarrard, commander of the coalition’s Special Operations Joint Task Force, said in the statement.
The US-led coalition launched a large scale military operation against the remaining ISIS fighters in al-Dashisha on June 3. Within weeks, the SDF managed to capture the center of the region along with dozens of villages in the southern al-Hasakah countryside.
In its new statement, the US-led coalition confirmed that next target of the SDF will be the last positions of ISIS along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. According to the coalition, the upcoming attack will be supported by coordinated ground and air strikes and Iraqi cross-border air and artillery strikes, just like the attack on al-Dashisha.
“…Gen. Jarrard said the success of this operation was due to the hard work and dedication of coalition helicopter crews, who ferried the hundreds of head-choppers safely out to U.S. provided escape zones. “These jihadists are extremely important assets for the coalition”, explained Jarrard. “Now they can continue their valuable work for the CIA by killing more Syrian civilians, SAA, Hezbollah and Iraqi PMUs.” He added, “My Israeli masters will be pleased. I certainly hope the shekel fairy will remember my sacrifices and reward me generously – CENTCOM doesn’t work for free, damn it!”
