US-led Coalition Is Forming Kurdish-Dominated Army In Northern Syria

Illustrative image

On December 24, Siyabend Welat, a commander of the Northern Syria Defense Forces (NSDF), revealed in an interview with the Kurdish news outlet ANF, that the US-led coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are now forming a new military force in the SDF-held area. The force will be named the Northern Syrian Army (NSA).

The NSA will be mainly formed from the NSDF that was established back in 2014 with a support from the US-led coalition to protect the Kurdish-held areas in northern Syria. Other groups like the YPG, the YPJ and many SDF units will also join the NSA. The force will have 100,000 fighters, according to Welat.

Unlike the NSDF, the NSA will also cover Arab areas including Manbij, Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and Tabqa and will be tasked with protecting what Walet called the “border” of Rojava.

“The NSA is currently being established, and it will be tasked with protecting the border … It won’t be limited to Rojava, we are now launching efforts in other regions of Northern Syria. Manbij, Raqqa and Tabqa will be included,” Welat told ANF.

The NSDF commander also warned that the new force will repel any Turkish or “Syrian” attack on its areas and confirmed that the US-led coalition is providing weapons and technical training for the NSDF and the  NSA.

“Turkey or Syria or any other neighboring state can’t enter our homeland as they wish like before,” Walet said.

The NSA is yet another example of how the US is trying to establish a de-facto semi-independent state in the SDF-held areas in eastern and northern Syria in an attempt to divide the country.

Joe

If this is true and major war is in the pipeline very soon. No doubt about it.

There is just no way Syria will allow such to happen . Really naive US to think this is possible.

The Kurds will have Turkey , Iran ,Hez, pmu ,SAA to contend with.

How the heck they can win ?

Russia will neutralise US and even with a mere 100k fighters is nothing . They are surrounded.

I don’t think the Kurds dare to take on Iran… Just impossible. It’s suicide. No country worth it’s name will allow this

ranger

The U.S. objective is to keep the WAR going. If the Kurdish population in Syria are Simple enough to Listen to the U.S.. If they think the can Divide Syria into Northern and Southern they are FOOLS.

mikefuhre

The Kurdish people of Northern Syria need to stand up for themselves and declare themselves independent.

Joe

How when the only force backing them up is the illegal US forces that would abandon them when faced with big Challenges like facing Turkey or Iran/Russia.

Fact is the war did not turn out the way they wanted with ISIS taking South and US taking the North .The problem now is the South is held by the victorious Assad forces that can easily finish off the Kurds and can face off US forces there as well

Jens Holm

I dont think anythoing like SAA taking SDF`s will be easy. They are annouced protection against Damaskus whatever USA are there illegal or not.

Joe

And Russia has assured Assad it would support Syria’s territorial integrity. That means he can challenge the Kurds freely and with his allies the Kurds have no chance militarily and strategically

There is just no way US can stay in Syria once terrorists have been defeated. Naive to even think it is possible.

Jens Holm

I think You should stop that realism at once.

PizzaPineapple

I’m not sure if the population in this area will give the full support to the US, such as the fighters among this “army”. Once the SAA is finished in Idlib it will clear the remaining pockets in Homs and Damascus and there will be another thousands of troops available.

The current SDF has light armoured vehicles and light weapons, which will be an easy target for tanks and airstrikes. The only issue is the presence of the US who will most likely not let that happen as they spend billions of US tax payers cash into this group – with the one and only goal to prevent Iran to touch their beloved ally Israel and to keep the war and suffering going in Syria.

Ivan Freely

You’re correct in that Kurdish support for the US will be limited. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if US mercenaries pretend to be Kurds and will be the majority in this so-called Northern Syrian Army.

Jens Holm

So SAA took Al Tanf, T2, Abu Kamal and like that – or what ??

Jens Holm

And the 8-10 refugges and 400.000 deads so far give Assads support in the regime areas. I dont think so as well.

Tom Tom

its not naivete so much as pure evil. the globalists, many of whom are American, need the U.S. and Russia out of the way. How do you do that? Get ’em to destroy each other.

Jerry Hamilton

We all knew this was going to happen. Netanyahu won’t let the Americans go home. This may well lead up to an attack on Iran and Hezbollah.

ranger

All Foreign Forces Illegally in Syria must be Destroyed. That MEAN ALL”.

dutchnational

So that means russians, turks, iraqis, afghans, lebanese, pakistani, turkmens to the number of 100k+, US 1.5k and some western and turkish SDF volonteers and a few k IS?

In that case I would agree or would settle for all of them leaving at once.

Garga

Omitting a keyword here, are we? illegally

If they’re not legally there, they shouldn’t be there at all. Legality in such cases can be obtained either of two ways: Either the legal and recognized government asks for it or if such government doesn’t exist, a useless political toy named the UN creates the legal basis.

Jens Holm

Iwould say so many have forgotten any commitments. They started when old Assad took over.

TiredOfBsToo

Only 9 words in that sentence and he still couldn’t comprehend it…. Doesn’t say much for education in the west.

Jens Holm

You just say, that illegally is only meant as tool for one part in the conflict.

You can take free gas on that. Russia think its fine, when Assads think You are spendable.

TiredOfBsToo

Communication is based on the understanding of the language we use to impart ideas to others. If I think that up means down and you think that down means down; we are unable to communicate. Legality on Syria is based on the Internationally accepted Laws based on sovereignty. When the individual uses the term illegal, it doesn’t infer legal (see my up/down example above). So the individual that doesn’t understand the meaning of the sentence in which it was used, can only respond with gibberish. As for Syria, I support Syria and it’s people against the desire and support given the most barbaric terrorists by the governments of the US, Saudi Arabia and Israel (who have provided these barbarians with everything from weapons to logistics for the wholesale slaughter of the Syrian people) for their own geopolitical gains. The people of Syria get to decide their government and the one to lead it, not any foreign terrorist supporting entity. I hope you understood this communication; I try to be very explicit.

Tommy Jensen

Contact a lawyer Garga and see what you can do in court.

Jens Holm

You are an imam ? Mullah Omar field ?

Serious

Bravo Pussin. What a great leader you are. XD.

We were telling that since day one. Only Pussin didn’t see that or maybe Pussin plays with USA and want to cut Syria into pieces.

Always check your allies. Traitors can only come from allies by definition.

Ishyrion Av

Why Norther Syrian Army and not National Security Agency? Translation is far closer to the truth…

leon mc pilibin

This traitorus act by the kurds will never survive, they had better come to their senses ,or they will end up with nothing.

mikefuhre

Bull shit. They are going to take their ancestral homeland back from Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria and we’re going to help make sure they succeed.

Ronald

And that pipe dream will be stopped by Syria , Iraq , Iran , Turkey and Russia . The US has balls standing on a Russian ally’s turf , but they will leave .

Serious

I see the futur. USA will start providing this fake army with lethal weapons. Then, Pussin will say “Oh, the red line has been crossed. Now, I will vote sanctions against NK or Cuba or venezuela with our american partners”. XD

Joe

How to supply the weapons when they are surrounded by Assad forces?

Serious

USA will deliver weapons to SDF. Of course, Pussin will tell you that when SDF will have a lot of weapons, it will be the right time to attack like in Ulkraine. XD.

dontlietome

Ha ha, you see the future…………………… wow, expect a knock on the door very soon…………………….

Oli Oli

hahaha..u people still dont get it….last year a deal was reached between us and russia…..east of euphrates us domination ( call it sdf ypg or lalalala land), west of euphrates russia dominated ( call it assad, iran hezbollah).that deal stands.period.if us proxy forces move west…russian plans will attack../if russia proxy (assad iran hezbollah) move east…american planes will attack. PERIOD!!!!! I dont like that….but thats reality geopolitics!!! Will a major war happen?? maybe..but definetly not because of syria……war = west against east….which will without a doubt, once it happens, turn nuclear within a couple of weeks.but it dont look good…the us government is nowadays practically hyjacked by zionists.

the japanese government is hyjacked by the united states, so is germany and italy too.a very dangerous path we are all heading to.peace love and harmony

Serious

Exactly. A deal has been made by Russia ans USA to cut Syria in two parts. that’s why Pussin didn’t act in the begining of the war but let ISIS invade Syria first before acting.

as

We’ll see about that really. Right now tension is high with Saud and cronies rapidly losing grips on power in Middle East. Iran remain firm while Jordan and Lebanon population are keen to take action against Israel. All of this meanwhile the US bogged down in Korean peninsula unable to take strong action. It’s all relatively depending on how tough the US integrity as well as Israel.

Joe

Don’t be silly. That deal was not to clash with each other and each to fight ISIS not about partitioning.

Russia does not have the authority to do that. Be matured in your thinking.

Once ISIS had been taken care of, both parties are to talk and become one country and surely without their arch enemy US that caused so much deaths and misery to Syrian people.

Serious

Always check you allies.

Russia = bad ally. Sunnis = bad allies.

The problem is that Syrian “allies” are Russia and Sunnis.

Like I have said so many times, the only friends that Syrians have are Iran and Hezbollah.

Joe

You forgot. Assad has the Syrian population behind him who would never allow their country robbed without a fight that they will surely win.

Yes the power ally will be the Iranians. Can you imagine Iran allows a rouge nation right near to them? They will put their entire army if need be to attack.

Anyhow Russia cannot allow such too as they surely doesn’t want a US force near to their bases.

So many factors say, US Intention will never work

Serious

The syrian population don’t think. That’s the tragedy of these people. Syrian sunnis and kurds betrayed there own nation. What do you expect from such stupid people ?

The tragedy is that they don’t care about their own country and own people. That’s the tragedy.

Joe

Not true. If they had not cared, they would not have supported Assad all these while to keep Syria as one.

Their sons and fathers died for Syria and do you think they will allow a rogue nation like US to take away half their country?

No they won’t.

Serious

If they had cared, they wouldn’t ally with USA to kill their people and to destroy their nation.

It’s not a question of will, it’s a question of possibililty. You want to expell the Americans but you can’t. So, as I have said so many, they should never have let Americans enter their country. But, like Pussin like to give SAA soviet weapons and sunnis like to kill everyone and USA is enough cynical to even kill a born baby, the result it’s this all mess.

So, yes, still be naive.

as

You don’t have to react to his dubious comments. He’s a troll.

Serious

I think that the troll is Pussin. He trolled you all. XD.

dontlietome

Russia …………. a bad ally……………….hardly. But I would like to know why you think that ?

Serious

Check history. Did you have heard about Serbia, Yougoslavia, NK, Syria, …. ?

dontlietome

You are not looking at the big picture………………. do you have the eyes to see ??????

FlorianGeyer

Serious is rather like a Donkey with Blinkers. He only goes where his master points and only sees what is in front of his nose.

Serious

Why shouldn’t I see something in front of my nose ? XD. Maybe I should see something that doesn’t exist. XD.

dontlietome

Now now Pinoccio, no need to get all hot and bothered…………

Serious

Just explain to me why should I don’t see what I’m seeing (and even predicted) in odrer to see something that doesn’t exist ? XD.

dontlietome

Why should I, you are not worth my very valuable time, not to me, not to anyone else.

Serious

Oh. excuse me SIR. I’m not good enough for you SIR. Maybe you should join the tribe, “the chosen people”. XD.

dontlietome

……………..maybe I was chosen a long long long time ago.

FlorianGeyer

Yes indeed and you must have often sought to drink from a pool and have instead got a mouthful of sand from the mirage.

dontlietome

……………….Lovely reposte !

FlorianGeyer

You are very kind. I do have good and bad days though :)

dontlietome

Copy that !

WinstonSmith

A liberal-feminist version of ISIS that needs being dealt with just like ISIS, since they are occupying Syria like the other terrorists.

mikefuhre

Obviously spoken by someone who doesn’t have the slightest clue. The Kurdish people are the only ones out there fighting the right fight.

anonim

And they don’t even know if they are Syrian or not. Whenever Turkey talks to them they are Syrian. Now they are ready to fight Syria. Smells like cheap cowardice to me.

Jens Holm

Assads are only a part of Syria. No kurds has denied they live in Syria as such and the majority are for replacing the primitive Damaskus central Governess for local Governess –

Which is very normal in many, many countries making a lot much more effective.

Your problem is, that You have no well educated Middleclass inventing things and making bright solutions. You also have the big lack of human right prefaring to keep Your women more stupid then they are by ancient traditions.

Jews often divide in gender as well, but they educate the men much better from birth and higher as well learning to get in knowledge by saking qustions.

Yours seemes mainly to be learning men to obey the old ones in the oil is only for lamps and better hay for cars style.

Its not all over, but the mainproblem of Yours.

Thats why any any marxisme is better. It educates people as an important part and people are equal for it. It is not based on family money and by gender as well.

anonim

Your problem is ur blind and stupid. Kurds hide behind Assad when talking to Turkey and behind US when talking to Assad. They are a p-ssy army.

Expo Marker

All we have to do is wait until the Arab tribes become tired of Kurd dominance, and the NSA will face another defeat.

There are some Arab and Assyrian groups who support the SAA. The list will grow as time goes on.

Add the fact that the US has no support from any Arab or Muslim after the UN Jerusalem vote does not do them any good.

Serious

I think you don’t know Arabs nor Sunnis. They do very stupid things in general.

Arabs and Assyrians will do nothing. As if USA will let them think.

Jens Holm

I mainly agree. Most people just want to live in peace.

But when they are attacked by ISIS directly, they change unless those people are not there. Here they got help.

Most regugees probatly are like that too. They just want calm stability, so by that they mainly accept what they are used to and even are taken as supporters of Assads.

The correct observation is, they are not even allowed to know about other countries and their way of Governess.

I see it too often here. So many only know our bad sides and by that forget the many good ones.

I would say one strong one is, that we can repair by electing new leaders by routine. If the politicians are doing fine, we relect them as well.

No burning officies, because the new leaders will get them. No shoes. Well the people make noise here too.

dontlietome

I don’t think you know the Kurds or their backers either. Is real has been directing them politically and logistically for the last 10 years. Mossad has offices in their territory……………………….

Jens Holm

Ha-ha. You using computer here make You supporter of CIA or FBI.

dutchnational

If I read you carefully, you are saying that after some fifty years or so of Assad family rule in Syria, there are some Arab and Syriac groups who support SAA.

Seems to me a very limited success rate. Well, maybe after another two generations there will be a few more groups of Arabs supporting SAA.

Jens Holm

Microshopes has become better :))

Jens Holm

I agree the importance of timefactor. Fx fighting against ISIS dont say SDF is 100% them.

But let me remind You it is the other way too. More could join them as well.

And USA has support of millions and millions of muslims all over the world. I have no acceptable solution to Jerusalem and the things there, but it would be an improvement You were builders Yourself in stead of using this routine dancing again and again.

But You dont. Everything is frozen i Your area. We only see old days are prefared. As You are now, you will never defeat anything exept killing each other.

Serious

Personnally, I only bet on Germans. The goal is to protect and to liberate Germany from USA. Germans are the saviors.

dontlietome

The Germans you want to bet on……………….. they died, sadly, many years ago. The current generation is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too dumbed down to stick their heads over the parapet.

Serious

Germans don’t die yet. We have to protect Germany at all cost. Expell all the “refugees”. One day, Germany will recover. Wait for that day to come. Germans are the saviors.

dontlietome

Bro’ you and I will be dust by the time that day comes around.

Serious

Certainly. But, it’s all about will and faith. Protect, organize, learn, be intolerant, don’t trust people, be resilient, ….. One day, it will come 100%.

Frederick Stopford

the blind leading the blind no doubt.

Serious

Who say I’m blind ? XD. Words are just words.

Mario Ceva

you are not serious.

Serious

Who say I’m not serious ? XD. Words are just words. Everybody can say whatever he wants and lie to himself even if the reality shows the inverse.

I can say “At night, I can see the sun”.

Mario Ceva

What you write confirm that you are not serious. You are not interested in the truth.

Serious

Who say I’m not interested in the truth. Words are just words.

Without valid arguments, no way you can convince me.

Mario Ceva

Why try to convice a not serious person like you??

Serious

Why ? Do you try to convince always people that think like you ??? XD. So, you do …. nothing. XD.

Mario Ceva

I try to convice only serious people interested in the truth.

Serious

Your statement is false.

Mario Ceva

What part is false???

as

Importing Kurds from somewhere else again ? These idiotic Kurds would employed these former daesh. What could possibly go wrong kurds ? In any cases if conflict broke out between them what lie they’d take out from their anus later ? These guys really don’t learn.

Serious

If Syrians are in shit it’s because they have been to tolerant.

dontlietome

Tooooooooooooooooo right bro’, but more yankee scum need to be killed on the battle field………………period

Serious

Tolerance is shit. Personnaly, I’m a proud intolerant personn not because I hate others but because others are full of shit.

Mario Ceva

Full od shit. Speack for yourself.

Serious

Bring kurds, turks, jews and sunnis to your country and near your house. Who cares ?

I’m proudly intolerant. That’s why the only way to be safe is to have weapons. It’s the difference between a pitbull and a poodle. Nobody will bother the pitbull because the pitbull have strength, big teeth, resilient, don’t care about you and attack to death if you bother him.

dutchnational

Likely, reading biggots like you, kurds feel they have to be pitbull too.

dutchnational

Yes, for years I have been wondering. Why oh why is the Assad family so tolerant to all opposition.

Serious

If Assad was a dictator, never all the “rebels” could have entred so many wepaons in Syria.

Assad is too kind.

dutchnational

I am sure the 300k+ dead agree with you.

The 6 million refugees outside of Syria too.

The five million people in Northern Syria idem.

Serious

They agree that USA is a terrorist state and that SDF uses ISIS to grab land.

dutchnational

Sure they do.

PizzaPineapple

Yes because that is what the media tells you right? It is all Assad to blame? The so-called “moderate” opposition is largely made up of salafist jihadist groups who don’t represent the revolution, calls for democracy and elections and all that. Make up your mind and go fool some one else.

dutchnational

No, that is what all statistics tell all of us.

Have any other figures?

Please inform me.

And yes, Assad is to blame. He, and his father before him, mismanaged Syria, largely impoverishing the rural population, corruption etc.

When people wanted more freedoms by peaceful demonstrations in 2011, it was Assad ordering his killers to shoot the demonstrators.

His choice. Nobody elses.

dontlietome

“I am sure the 300k+ dead agree with you.”…………..you would have your audience believe that the blame should be laid at Basher al Assads door…………………..you are a pupil well versed in the propaganda techniques of Josef Goebbels;- tell a lie often enough and people will begin to believe it. Well its not working, no one believes you, because you aren’t able to put a persuasive argument, you just utter almost robotically, the same verbal diarrhoea. If you really want to know how destabilised Syria, you have no further to look than your own backers, the Mossad/CIA. Both had snipers in place that day,and killed the peaceful protesters…………………and they ADMIT it, they are proud of their efforts, especially Israel…… and you don’t have to look far to find the truth, but i wouldn’t expect that of you, because WE all know which side of the toast yours is buttered. And so you continue ;-” No, that is what all statistics tell all of us. Have any other figures? Please inform me.” Well Mr Dutch Courage, who created those figures and why did they use statistics to present something which is a simple total ? If they did use stats. then every schoolboy knows that stats. can be used to lie about anything…………….why do you think governments rely on Statistic departments to massage figures which do not add up ? More of your drivel…………………… “And yes, Assad is to blame. He, and his father before him, mismanaged Syria, largely impoverishing the rural population, corruption etc.” Really ? Is that so ? Have you ever been there ? Dealt with the people and businesses ?????? Speaking from a far superior stand point based on “boots on the ground” experience, that you are WRONG AGAIN. Your Hubris clouds your judgement, and your hatred will earn you a warm seat on the down elevator……. don’t try to be a guide when you don’t have the eyes to see.

dontlietome

6 million………….. oh tut tut, NOW you have given the game away !

Tommy Jensen

The 6 million refugees were Jews brutally killed by nasis.

Jens Holm

??. The one was base for the uprise now and many others.

Jens Holm

No, You have to go back in time like having a very bad constructed car.

You region incl. borders was made for neocolonialism gaining France and UK. Here more shit was added by giving Turks too much by Lausanne.

But it is true much was added by intollerant arabic nationalisme as well as the turkish one.

So the impossible solution should be to take those many strange parts and make something better.

The strangest thing is, that You think those things can be solved by being less tolerant. Where do You get that confirmed.

Rodger

Big deal. This group will fracture into little bands as soon as the other side throws some money at select people in it and some bombs at others.

Jens Holm

Thats the hope of the evil ones not knowing better.

Serious

Don’t lie to yourself, it’s the worst thing you can do. I was telling that since day one. If Putin manages to expell Americans from Syria, I will worship him for one week.

Roger

1200 km border with enemy on all sides 500km Turkey 350km Iraq

dutchnational

They managed so far, even expanding a lot of extra kms during the last year.

Having gained srtrategic depth and over 40k more fighters in 2017, they will hold themselves or at the minimum give a good account of themselves.

Jens Holm

Weapons are only a part of war. Most important are treating each other well.

A little country like fx my Denmark would never be there, if our defence was the only option.

chris chuba

The Kurds, 10% of the population is grabbing 25% of Syria with most of its oil reserves but the U.S. is having a hissy fit over eastern Ukraine with 3% of that country wanting to be autonomous after their President was thrown out of office in a coup.

And by hissy fit, I mean providing arms to kill them.

ranger

The U.S. Supports TERRORISM in the Middle East it’s a fact of life, except in America.

Jens Holm

Before that Damaskus took all oil and gave it almost only to friends.

Oil being under the ground dont say grabbing, more like thieves think everybody else are thieves as well. So they will send the oil by Internet or in barrels down the Eufrat.

dontlietome

Damascus took all the revenue for the oil that was sold because it belongs too the people as does the public purse. Jens , you talk shit at the best of times. If the oil were in the hands of the Oil Corporations , Syria would have been lucky to see 10% !

RichardD

Syria isn’t Iraq. 90% of the area east of the river has an Arab majority. Who are going to have far less loyalty to the Israelistan Kurdish partition project than the Kurdish minority.

Tommy Jensen

The Kurds in Turkey´s underbelly could be used to penetrate and balkanize Turkey into more land for Israel and as leverage and power balance for US military bases.

Victor_Lizzerri

Its time to start the extermination of the Kurds. No wonder Saddam gassed them. he should have gassed more of them.

mikefuhre

The Kurds are the only ones there who are worth a shit.

Tommy Jensen

Kurds are nomads. always ready to sell their butt to anybody for a few bucks.

RichardD

The Syrian government footprint grows every day while the Jew world order regime change footprint shrinks. I’m not expecting that to change. The minute that the Syrian government drives into SDF areas to reestablish government administration there and gets fired on, the SDF becomes one more terrorist organization to be cleared.

mikefuhre

Yea except that is their ancestral homeland and they are the only ones fighting for the right cause.

RichardD

It’s the Syrian’s ancestral homeland and has been for a lot longer than Kurds have been there. Many would disagree that conspiring with terrorist supporters in the death and destruction against Syria is the right cause.

Serious

If you buy a dog to protect you and your house, what should you buy ?

1 – Bulldog (Putin) 2 – Pitbull (Americans) 3 – Rottweiller (Germans) 4 – Poodle (Arabs)

I bet on Germans. Why are also better protection dogs germans ? Alsatian, Doberman, Rottweiler, …

dontlietome

……………… You are an idiot………………. Haha, now I know I have met one of those robots the yids have built……………………

Serious

A robot ? XD. How delusional are you. XD.

Serious

Delusional people think that if they don’t want to see what is happening, it is not happening. XD.

That’s exactly the mentality that lead to faillure. Like Saddam Hussein that though if can fight against USA or the egyptian Nasser that said that the egyptian army will walk on beach in israel after defeating israel or also Gadafi who said that his people will rise and protect him.

Serious

Know yourself and know your ennemy.

dutchnational

This is just unifying the already existing situation of the SDF being rebranded and unified and incorperating the HXP, conscript army,

Likely this has been hastened by Turkish threats against Afrin and Manbij and SAA and Iranian proxies threats against Northern Syria, the message being : do not mess with us, you might not like the results.

PizzaPineapple

The results of cute humvees and light infantry weapons.

dutchnational

Well, in this I partly agree.

Having many ATG’s soon will help SDF/NSA in defensive positions.

One thing everybody can see is that Iran and its proxies, incl SAA, are not a very effective offensive force when they lack RuAF cas and longrange bombing and they lack manpower.

Imo both parties should talk and come to sensible compromises. The situation of 2010 and earlier will not come back to northern Syria ever again. The neocolonial cat is out of the bag forever.

PizzaPineapple

Talking is better indeed. Our people are done with this war that is between foreign agendas. SDF needs to get rid of US and talk to the legitimate government of Syria and get their federalism or autonomy that way. Cutting of almost 50% of Syria with the help of the US by force is only going to result in another more complicated conflict.

dutchnational

Talking implies being prepared to compromise.

So far, no sign at all that Assad is willing to compromise.

No compromise means either a frozen conflict (like some in Europe) or an all out war. In fact Assad’s choice.

PZIVJ

And don’t forget Erdogan, making threats against Afrin. This gives the US an excuse to stay in N Syria. Erdogan is just plain stupid !

dutchnational

Agreed. And thanks to Abadi’s stupidness, IS is restarting in Iraq so US cannot leave at all.

Ace

Assad and his people have fought off a massive foreign attack by the scum of the earth. Why should he compromise just as the tide shifts in his favor. But for US interference, he could easily deal with the Kurds, including talk about federalism. The Kurds deserve something for their major contribution. If Assad sees it differently, then I am with him.

Floyd Hazzard

As I have often said, all the surrounding countries should close their borders to NATO and strangle the kurds economically or else this is going to end in a huge war. The aim of all this is to find ground bases to stock equipment and aircraft from which to attack countries at will, but especially to launch an invasion of Iran.
