A total of four US service members were wounded in the April 7 indirect fire attack on the Green Village base in northeaster Syria, the US-led coalition revealed in a new statement.
Initially, the coalition’s Special Operations Joint Task Force-Levant said that only two service members were wounded as a result of the attack.
According to the US-led coalition’s new statement, two projectiles struck two support buildings in the Green Village, which is located in al-Omar oil fields in the southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, early on April 7.
“The incident is under investigation. We will provide additional information as available,” the statement reads.
Kurdish sources claimed that the attack was carried out by Iranian-backed forces, who are situated in the government-held part of Deir Ezzor, just a few kilometers across the Euphrates River from al-Omar oil fields. However, this is yet to be confirmed.
A day after the attack on the Green Village in Syria, two unidentified armed drones targeted Ayn al-Assad Air Base in the western Iraqi province of al-Anbar. Hundreds of US troops are present in the air base, supposedly to train Iraqi government forces. The attack was blamed on pro-Iranian factions by some Iraqi sources.
The attacks on the Green Village and Ayn al-Assad highlight the growing threats facing US forces in Syria and Iraq today.
If Iranian-backed forces were indeed responsible for the two attacks, the US-led coalition will likely respond with strikes on both Syria and Iraq as it did on several occasions in the past.
They increased the number of wounded to make acceptable (to the full retard citizenship that supports the Pentagon), the death of a US Lt Colonel
