On September 8, the US-led coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) shelled several positions inside the ISIS-held pocket on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside, according the Syrian outlet Baladi News.
Local sources said that the coalition used incendiary rounds in the shelling that killed 14 women and children. The pro-opposition news outlet revealed that all the victims were family members of foreign jihadists.
US-led coalition warplanes also conducted more than ten airstrikes on positions of the terrorist group in the towns of Hajin, Abu Hassan and al-Bu Khater inside the pocket on the night of September 7.
During the last two months, the Syrian Observatory for Human Righters (SOHR) reported on several occasions that the US-led coalition and its proxies are preparing to launch a military operation to clear the ISIS-held pocket. Local observers believe that the operation may begin within the upcoming few days.
