On August 7, the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) lost a high number of personnel as a result of an ISIS attack and unprofessional actions of the US-led coalition at the border area with Syria.
ISIS launched a large attack on the First Brigade of the PMU in the Akashat area at the Iraqi side of the At Tanf border crossing engaging PMU units in an intense fighting. According to initial reports, the US-led colaition conducted at least 1 air strike on the positions of the PMU.
Later Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada (a PMU group deployed in the area) clarified that the US-led coalition used the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System that had been deployed at the At Tanf garrison controlled by the coalition forces.
The ISIS attack was repelled but the PMU suffered heavy casualties.
According to reports, from 40 to 70 PMU members were killed (according to various sources) and dozens others were injured as a result of the incident. Furthermore, at least 6 units of the PMU military equipment, including technicals and buldozers, were destroyed.
According to reports, a son of the head of Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada was also killed.
Just learned among the ones that were killed is the head of Sayed Al-Shuhada son.

The US-led coalition obviously denies any strikes on the PMU in the border area.

At the same time pro-US sources speculate that the PMU just tries to blame the US-led coalition for own losses in the battle against ISIS. Unfortunately, these sources forget mentioning multiple “accidental” US-led coalition military strikes on the PMU and the Iraqi Army during operations against ISIS accorss Iraq.
In any case there are no dobuts that tensions between the US-led coalition and the PMU will grow further as a result of the incident. The two sides already have complicated relations because they support differend sides in the ongoing Syrian conflict and have different visions of the Iraqi future after the collapse of ISIS. (MORE)

They were identified as Himars rockets , why are you not researching these things are you unable to find the information or just plain biased at times. The story was already out it killed about 68 PMU and disrupted the region because of this , the PMU should attack ISIS and clear them out and the government can use this as an excuse to override the US wanting them to clear pockets out , Iraq PM should do like he did before. This particular group is are the same as seen before operating in the Al Tanf area they are usually called the American Foreign Legion because they all wear SOF watches 3-4 brands. They are based in Jordan and always amass near Al Tanf and attack from there , it could be coincidence that this happened after the attack of the Himars rockets. The US does want the PMU disbanded but the Iraq Govt wants them around as they are effective, since Muqta al Sadr wants them also disbanded after his visit with the Saudis. This does look more and more like an intentional attack with the rockets . (They were identified as HIMARS numbes and all.)

The 68 PMU KIA was released by ISUS so is just their propaganda. My take on the story is that ISUS launched an attack from the north on Akashat area. And then the US coalition launched rockets into the area without regards to PMU casualties (because ISUS was in the area). Of coarse launching strikes without a spotter on the ground is quite reckless! But of course PMU is not their ally, and they do not wish them well.
These guys operate in the vicinity Al Tanf , they blew up the bridges and communications towers in the Syrian and Iraqi border area. Like to call them American Foreign Legion since they wear Special forces watches. Amaq always is propaganda even when they suffer setbacks. The numbers of the Rocket attack were over 40 and up to 68 on the rocket attack, where as this assault was in the dozens.
